A couple years ago I spied Ray Suen and his fiddle at a block party. I invited him to come over to my garage and play a little with Matt Curreri and me. At the time, he was just a kid with not much else do to, so he agreed. Ray quickly became an integral part of our band, the Exfriends, and the next thing we knew, he became just about the most sought-after violinist in town. Every time Ray performs, audiences want to know more about him, musicians want to hire him. He's just one of those players with the right combination of technical ability and good taste. Not only on violin, but guitar too. I nearly keeled over the other day when he sent me a recording he made of a Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappelli tune... and if you haven't guessed already, yes, Ray played both the Django and the Grappelli parts on the recording.
You can catch a performance by Ray Suen just about any night of the week, whether it's with Gregory Page, the Hot Club of San Diego, the Killers , the Exfriends, the Blackout Party, Novelty Jazz, or little old me.

Oh! I am still working on it, but you can see some of the pages in my album...they are the weird little pages that aren't actually a book yet! :) I'm slow...I do those, then I start paintings. Then I start more paintings...I'm finding that making those gives me really good material for paintings. So, thanks for letting me borrow them ;)
Sup brotha-man! Good seein you guys play the other night. I had fun. Wish i could've hung out more, but Heckle & Jeckle needed to be put back in their cages. Maybe next time.
"Ray Suen, se la come.." I said it. it's online. in multi-angle hi-res. you eat it. it's been carved in binary stone. wait about 11 seconds.. Right Here
Damn, coulda used you at HOB last Sat. It was a good show except for the fights that broke out in front of the stage. The crowd shouldn't be doing a GnR tribute. :-(
