Ray Unit is Ray Unit, or is it the other way around? born in argentina and raised in madrid, abe dunovits is a musician, performer, improvisor, crap filmmaker, sound artist, visual artist and/or poet he has performed and recorded in Perth and Melbourne solo and with different experimental outfits and individuals such as the Magick Trousers, AAA Chthonic since 1995, also with Carcrashface and maverick melbourne (hellbourne) poet/artist Ashley J Higgs...abe/ ray unit has independently released two albums, Spirit Elevator and Fuckhead...when he is not making noise with toys, pedals, radios, broken guitars and basses, home made string instruments or his own voice through cracking microphones and japanese language learning tapes, he is busy playing in latin bands like his latest original project funkalleros...ray unit is the name given to the main character in anarchist australian filmmaker Tim Burns in his seminal 1975 art film "Against the Grain"...ray unit is available for weddings, parties, funerals or backyard pet burial ceremonies...all in the name of art...that damn three letter word... This is what Ray Unit has to say about himself... "ray unit was born in a old rubber tyre, he was breast fed by a toothless brainded mechanic in an old warehouse in hamilton hill and then he went out into the world...ray unit is a freak...if you see him do not approach him...he bites...he's a filmmakers nightmare..."
