About me:

Hi. I’m Rayven. I’m a work at home mom to Bubba Boy and Sissy.

I have been a stay at home mom for most of my children’s lives, though I will admit that I did have a brief moment of insanity and attempted to enter the workforce for a few months. Fortunately, I came to my senses quickly and managed to avoid missing any important milestones in my children’s lives.

We are not what you would ever call “normal”, and I really like that! I am the kind of person who likes to do things that other people would never even imagine doing; I want to visit all 7 continents, I want to take a trip to outer space, I want to ride on the Goodyear blimp. Why? Because very few people in the history of the world have ever done those things. My ultimate goal in life is to be sitting on a plane (first class, of course) next to someone who wants to strike up a conversation of interesting things we have done in our lives. I want that stranger next to me to not believe what I am saying, because the list of things I have done is so incredible. I will, of course, be telling the truth.

That may sound like an odd goal in life, but, like I said, I’m not normal.

I have no doubt in my life that I will accomplish this goal, first class seats and all. You see, my husband and I have finally figured it out. It took us several years to learn that we had been doing it all wrong, but that’s ok. We know the secret now, and are heading down the path of making everything we’ve ever dreamed of become a reality.

I told you that I work at home. I have been busy sharing my passions with other moms just like me. You see, over the past 8 years I have investigated, and tried, just about everything under the sun to save and make money to stay home with my kids. I have run into scams, and totally awesome, little known methods to help a one income family do all the things they want to do in life. I have created a website to showcase all of these ideas, resources and tips on Reducing Expenses, Stretching Your Dollar and Supplementing Income at Stay A Stay At Home Mom.

I love trying new things. I love delving into topics, researching every aspect of them, trying them out, becoming successful….and then something odd happens. Quite simply, I get bored. I get to the point of success with my “hobbies” and then move on, exploring the next opportunity. My husband, bless his heart, doesn’t say a word.

When I say I delve into these topics, I don’t just read about them. I experience them. For example, I stumbled upon the world of surrogacy a few years ago. I spent an exhaustive three months researching, learning, asking questions, going through scenarios. And then I decided to become a Gestational Surrogate Mother. As I sit here typing this, I am pregnant a second time as a surrogate mother, having delivered twins to a wonderful family in February 2007. This will be the last time I will be a surrogate mother, however. Why? I have a new project I can’t wait to undertake!

Our next project is a tour of North America. We’ve bought an RV, and as soon as this baby is born, we are taking off! We’ll pull the kids out of school and go back to homeschooling, and just have a blast exploring this fantastic country on our terms. Some of the things on our list are: swimming with dolphins, going to Sturgis, Christmas at Williamsburg, and taking a mule ride in the Grand Canyon.

My husband still has a normal job, but that is ending soon. We need the health benefits for the delivery of the baby, and though COBRA is available, we are debating about how long we actually want to pay it (baby is due in July). I’d like to say that the things I am doing to supplement/replace an income are the things that are allowing my husband to quit his job and for us to travel, but the truth is, he is becoming involved with his own source of income that has nothing to do with my passion.

So, that’s me in a nutshell. Granted it’s a rather large nutshell, but I am a rather complex person!
