Raz & Dave is the unlikely coupling of Leeds' fragile, progressively morbid indie group iLiKETRAiNS vocalist 'Dave' and laconically styled DROWNEDiNSOUND.COM writer 'Raz'.
You can call it an iLiKETRAiNS side project. You can call it a DROWNEDiNSOUND.COM offshoot. God only knows. What you can know, however, is that Raz & Dave is/are opening the Carling Weekend 2006 at both the Reading and Leeds legs.
It will be a logistical nightmare involving very fast helicopters, not trains.
Indeed, the first shows will be something of a pilgrimage as Raz & Dave first met in a pathway at Leeds Festival, 2005 Dave accused Raz of hitting on his girlfriend. Raz resented that comment and made Dave take a photo with him. The rest is history.
Press reports suggest:
"Possibly the best new band in Britain" Rolling Stone
"Just amazing" The Fly
"Wicked beats and ting" Rap Hop In The Hood
"It sounds like it could be genius" Rainbow League
"A certainty for the top spot" NME
Raz & Dave have been busy penning songs for their forthcoming Unofficial Exclusive MySpace-only release, due out later this year. Unconfirmed titles include 'Beer Kitty', 'I Didn't Mean It, Dave' and 'Rock the Razbah'.
