About me:
The R&B Jukebox with Easy Bill airs every Saturday night from 7-9pm MST on Colorado's listener supported jazz station, jazz89 KUVO (89.3FM Denver, 89.7 Breckinridge, 104.9 Laramie, WY, and streaming on the web at www.KUVO.org).
Every week we revisit the Golden Era of Rhythm & Blues, from the early 1940's through the late 1960's. Jump Blues, Vocal Groups, early Rock n' Roll, Doo Wop, New Orleans R&B, Soul, even some big band, swing, and gospel, it's all on board what has been nicknamed "The quickest two hours on radio."
We spotlight many artists that have slipped through the cracks of music history, or worse, been relegated to the "Oldies" section of the record store. We review the classics from the era, as well as obscure gems from all the independent labels of the day. This is stuff that you would never hear on your transistor radio fifty years ago, and sometimes we still look over our shoulder for the three minutes that we air these risque records!
These are the artists, songs, and labels that gave birth to Rock n' Roll, Soul, Funk, and literally every form of American popular music to come in it's wake. At the R&B Jukebox it is our mission to see that the spotlight never fades on this important time in American history.
