I’m not a big MySpace fan, but I thought I’d use it to release a couple free singles from my new CD, which will be out in 2008. The first single is two songs I wrote the summer of 2001 while living with my dad in Eagle River, Alaska and working as a grocery checker.
Ever feel like you were sick of people and just wanted to fun away and live by yourself in the woods? The "A-Side," Going Away is about that. It’s also the title track from my album
The "B-Side" is T.S.G.F.M. (That Sexy Girl from Mississippi), a song about a gal I knew in undergrad through a scholarship program we both did. That was before I ended up at UNC and learned to harbor enmity toward everyone at the Durham Country Club :) This song is the only one I have that includes all three major themes of my songwriting: love, humor and politics (it does a feminist critique of itself partway through...)
The second single Jamie Moshin’s Favorite Songs is exactly what it says. When I first started playing in college Jamie was my biggest fan and would always request Natalie Portman and, after I returned from my semester in Ecuador Mostly I’m Just Lonely. Guess who requested it at the concert where this was recorded?
There’s a Facebook group to promote the album:
