"So here we gather tonight, another year goes by. Life begins anew again in the twinkling of an eye. Don't forget to tell someone 'I love you' when you can. And most of all remember He who holds you in His hand" - Sarah Beisser Love Is Waiting
I also decided to start an encouragement section also. I have no idea who out there in Internet land, might come across my page. But, whoever you are, wherever you are, I want to pray for you. I feel it's the least I can do. I am nowhere near close to perfect, pious, or sanctified on my own account. But there is something deep inside of me, that clings to the hope of God in Christ. And that's enough to keep me goin' when this life seems hard if not impossible. This life is tough, and it seems like it gets tougher everyday. But you DON'T have to go it alone.
So that being said...if you need prayer and encouragement, know that He is always there. I'll be praying for you. Drop me a note via the link on the left.
Blessings, Ryan
About me:
Ryan Sheeler has been on a spiritual and musical journey for many years. From an early age, he sang along to songs on the radio and tv, and starting singing in church choir in elementary school. At the age of 9, he took up the guitar at the urging of family. At first he didn't like playing in front of people, but soon the rock bug bit. First it was "Johnny B. Goode" and "walk Don't Run" from his parents collection, then it was Van Halen. :)
All the while, melodies and songs stuck with Ryan - from the Beatles to Billy Joel. Hearing Dan Fogelberg for the first time with "Leader of the Band" on a night drive with family, turned Ryan's ear in a new direction. He wrote his first song in his teen years - this ended up being "Two Edge Night" on Flying Taxi's Standard Fare.
Ryan has tried many music avenues over the years - guitar, piano, songwriting, saxophone, tuba, and more. He is classically trained on guitar, low brass, and composition. But his true musical love lies in the blues guitar of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Coco Montoya, and Gary Moore, the songs of the Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, Billy Joel, Richard Marx, Jimmy Webb, James Taylor and the spiritually moving music of The Gaithers, Steven Curtis Chapman, David Phelps, Bob Carlisle, Mathhew Ward, and others. Ryan has won awards for songwriting from ASCAP and the Paramount Group of Nashville TN.
After years of being a "band guy" with Flying Taxi, The River, and the Box Brothers Band, Ryan decided to set out as a soloist in 2007 after nearly 20 years of dreaming about it. Not as a career path per se, but just to get out and try new things.
All the while, an unchecked spiritual longing burned away in his heart. One night in high school, Ryan gave his heart to Jesus after years of being on the fence, and just going to church every Sunday. But it would not be until many years later, when that little seed of faith would be truly tested. After years of both intense heartache and joy, Ryan really found the Lord in person and re-committed his life to Christ in 2003.
Music, ministry, and loving people are passions of Ryan's. His debut CD, Prayers and Promises, was released in 2006. He continues to play on the praise team at his local church, and is passionate about prayer ministry and helping the less fortunate. Ryan continues to make solo and band appearances on occasion.
Please drop me a line, or come up and chat sometime if you're at one of my gigs. Blessings, Ryan

Friends, fellow musicians, music lovers I am most pleased to announce a new partnership with Lightning Red an exceptional blues guitar player and vocalist. Red very recently moved here from Austin, Texas where he competed for gigs with some of the country’s best talent. You can hear his music and read more about him at www. LightningRed. com Red said he wanted to form an acoustic blues duo to play restaurants and coffee houses in Central Iowa. I had been thinking the same thing for months. When he said he wanted to play a mix of originals and songs of the blues masters – Sonny Terry, Brownie McGee, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, James Cotton, Muddy Waters, BB King and others – I knew we were in the same head space. After our first rehearsal I knew we had something. I think you’ll feel it the moment you hear us. As you know I’ve been doing this a while myself. See my “resume” and hear my music at www. myspace. com/CurryHarp I’ve been fortunate to connect with “Stoney” (Dave Stone) owner of three restaurants in the Des Moines area. At one of his restaurants, Waveland Café West/Booneville Bar, he spoke of wanting to extend his hours of operation on Sundays, have Curry & Red do something special at least once a month, and create a unique menu for that day only each time. I of course am excited to be a part of his growing business. The first event is this coming Sunday, January 25 from 3-5 pm. So, while Red and I sing and play some good time blues, you can stuff your face with gourmet pizza sandwiches, drink beer, tea, or whatever you drink. It’s a family restaurant with a reputation for quality, generous portions, and local ambiance. Directions: From Des Moines take 80 west to the Waukee/Booneville exit. Turn left/south on Ute Avenue. Go 2 miles to Waveland Café West and Booneville Bar, 3571 Ute Avenue, Booneville, Iowa. Curry & Red
