The Reading Fringe Festival is a showcase for local talent in music, comedy and the arts, held in the lead-up to the Carling Reading Festival.
2005's fringe festival saw music ranging from Aqua Livae's roots reggae to Pure Reason Revolution's nu-prog, via the cartoon-ska-pop of sixnationstate, while people flocked to dance lessons, art exhibitions and comedy shows all over town. 2006 saw an even more comprehensive programme planned, with the festival branching out into film and theatre as well as music, art, comedy and dance. 2007 followed in the same vein as did 2008 and 2009, the Fringes fifth year. Plans are now under way for the 2010 Fringe.
Reading has for a long time been a major player in the arts scene, playing host to the Carling Reading Festival, WOMAD and many others, and proudly boasts a thriving community of local musicians, actors, comedians, dancers and artists. The Reading Fringe Festival aims to nurture links between different fields, genres and cultures, and to actively seek out, encourage and promote new talent.
For more information, visit the official website at www.readingfringefestival.com .
Pete and the Pirates taking it to the extreme. Improptu gig inside the Festival....
Robina works in London with Hedkandi records among other, but you can't teke the Reading out of the girl.
Pete Doherty likes to look for bargains on Readings Oxford Road, near the Reading Festival site :
