Kurt Cobain Memorial Night on the exact date of the 15th anniversary of the Nirvana front man’s death, Sunday 5th April at Déjà Vu Reading. FREE ENTRY Set up by Ready Rock Revolution to commemorate the positive influence he had on so many musicians and the passion and honesty with which he played and wrote. Featuring SELF ESTEEM and other up and coming bands. Address can be found here
‘We live in an era where music especially the rock genre has no intent or purpose. It exists because it can rather than to offer people something that they might be looking for. Something that cant be described with words but perhaps only summed up. Passion. Escape. Purpose. Depth. That’s what Kurt Cobain put back into rock music in 1991 at a time when it craved it so much. Although there are so many bands coming out without songs that touch you and inspire you, Kurts influence lives on. There are bands out there that try to offer that. So many bands get exposure and radio play because it’s paid for. Bands that don’t seem to know what a hook is and what lyrics can be and its sad. I believe though that once you scratch the surface there is no going back. That’s why Kurt should be remembered. It’s a shame that all this is still the music INDUSTRY. It should just be about the music. That’s what Kurt gave us and the industry helped break him and took it away’ Nikola, Self Esteem
