Here is how the steadies came to be.....
Ben and Bob started playing together quite a while ago now, after finding that listening to records just wasn't enough to pass the time. After a bit of persuading, Chris joined them. Chris played guitar but had to play bass in the group because it was quite hard to find a bass player. Anna and Becky were asked if they would like to play too, and they called themselves Hazey Janes. Last summer, a collection of songs were recorded which was a lot of fun, and the resulting ep called best in show was good to listen to for a while. But soon after Anna and Becky left the group, and left without a singer and organ player, not much happened. In that time, Ben plucked up the courage to sing and Natalia joined the band, who has the added bonus of playing the flute rather well.
Bob's friend Ali started playing with the band which meant Chris could play the guitar instead of the bass, which pleased him no end. Things picked up and practicing was fun again, oh the joys of Morrissey impressions. Not having violins or a trumpet on the songs inspired the name, the hopefuls, but that was brief and the group stuck with an old name, the steadies. However, recently, Ali's friend Robert was asked to join on the trumpet. Fleeting. The songs on this site were written a long time ago but recorded recently, hope you like them.
