Reaganesk is a singer/ songwriter from Amsterdam, risen as a solo- artist from the ashes of what was the two/ tree- man band Reagan. In former homebase Groningen Reagan performed at culturally acclaimed stages such as USVA, the Platform Theatre and twice at the Noorderzon festival. But the band also played at more dodgy pubs such as De Kroeg van Klaas, café Roezemoes and other obscure places. Reagan has manufactured its own very-low-budget cds and added a track to the [drga-drga]- sampler Home.
After this, Maarten travelled through his country of birth Ireland playing in pubs and so growing as a singer/ songwriter. Back in Amsterdam, he decided to go solo and call himself Reaganesk. As Reaganesk the artist has taken the opportunity to grow as a stage performer by playing at slightly bigger ( though still intimate) venues, such as Bitterzoet ( Amsterdam), cafe Briljant ( Haarlem), Camelot ( Nijmegen), Lokaal Vredebreuk ( Den Haag), Noorderslag festival ( Groningen), The Slaughtered Lamb (London), Tchai Ovna ( Glasgow), The Phoenix (Coventry) and cafe Sappho ( Amsterdam). Founding the Amsterdam Songwriters Guild with fellow musician Ro Halfhide certainly has helped creating the opportunity to gain more stage experience and also to be possitively influenced by other singer/ songwriters.
Currently Maarten is working on his first truely official debut album 'Faith will Reward'. As we speak he has just finished touring the UK for six weeks. Also the first ASG- compilation 'Songs 1' has just been released on which his song 'Sparks' is featured ( version with strings). He also plays electric guitar in the 5 piece ensemble Chinup, one great rockband....
