Heart Of The City
Trenton, NJ
Members: Byron “B. Eazy” Marshall, Valon “Fat Boi” Warren, Timothy “Sice” Williams, and Curtis “Curt Da King” Moore.
Heart Of The City represents the new breed of emcees right out of Trenton, NJ. We come together to bring you powerful music that embodies the true sound of Hip Hop. Individually, we all have been rhyming for about a decade now, but in the summer of 2005 we finally came together as a group. Sice and Fat Boi join up to form Leading The Blind (LTB), while Curt and Eazy form Capitol Hill, and as whole we become Heart Of The City (HOC). Both teams of lyricists give you the trials of the everyday struggle with new concepts over original production.
“Check out my boys Heart Of The City! Check’em ya’ll! They all the way live!”
– DJ Ready Red, The Original DJ from the Ghetto Boys
Just to name a few events, we performed at The Terminal on July 28, 2005, which was hosted by DJ JDS from Philly 100.3 The Beat. Then almost two months later on September 3, 2005, we did Senator Anthony H. Williams’ Block Party in Philadelphia. We also showcased our talent to the people of Outta Reach Entertainment at The Philadelphia Clef Club on the 21st of October in 2005.
We slowed everything down for a couple months and just concentrated on making good music. Later on, at the end of the spring season we began to get booked for more shows. That’s when we performed at Club 923 on May 14th 2006, which was hosted by 4 Kings Productions. Then about a month later LaSmouve Records invited us to perform at their “Time to Shine Showcase” on June 24th 2006 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. After rocking the stage out there we fell back to concentrate on the business part of the music. After about six months we auditioned for 721 productions, and landed a spot in their showcase in NYC on the 21st of January of 2007, which was hosted by DJ Kay Slay. But in the middle of all the traveling and performing, we were always promoting ourselves and broadening our fan base.
But as of right now, we are staying focused on producing our own tracks, designing our own graphics, and even shooting our own videos. That part of the business comes natural to us, simply because we define the word Artist. And we do that, just by taking our creativity past the limits of music. Truly, we believe that we are the diamond in the rough waiting to be found in the streets of New Jersey.
So after two years we are about six albums deep (unreleased) with 2 mix tapes and a DVD coming soon. Hip Hop is our hustle. And our product is real life, not the music that DJ’s only play in the clubs, but music that you can just listen to and absorb the vibe.
So, our goal as a group is to reach every type of fan of hip-hop, and bring good music back to the forefront.
You be the judge.
