At the tender age of 17, Junior Akerele aka “Realist” is already well on his way to fulfilling his potential as one of the brightest young talents to emerge from the UK Urban Music Scene. As a young teen he took influence from collectives 'Pay as you go', 'More Fire Crew' at the height of the UK Garage era… to the more recent wave of Grime acts such as Nasty Crew as well as many others. It was then in early 2004 that he began to take a keen interest in writing lyrics in his spare time and around his peers at school. He began to receive much positive feedback and through encouragement through his friends and family began to take his new found talent more seriously and decided to explore a career within the arts. In July 2005, he and friends from his local area took it upon themselves to form a collective called ‘Off Limits’. His time within the group was short lived and due to creative differences, Realist decided to move on to pastures new, which would later result in him joining a new crew full of hungry and talented MC’s that would get him the notice and recognition he deserved. In February 2006, Realist joined underground Grime Collective ‘Mucky Wolf Pack’, and received guidance and mentoring from the likes of Wiley, God’s Gift & other established Grime artists. His name then started to spread on the underground circuit and as result has seen him appearing on National radio shows including the Tim Westwood Rap Show. He also began to build a moment of radio appearances on Pirate & Online Radio sets and in it was in You Tube video that in late 2007 caught the attention of Former So Solid Crew member & Actor Ashley Walters aka Asher D, who promptly signed Realist to his own Record Label & Production Company AD82 Productions. Realist is currently working on his debut EP “TBC”, and is set to cause a real stir in the industry… this title is set to be released off of the AD82 imprint.
