Reality Addiction is a dynamic new alternative rock/pop band from New Jersey. The band is comprised of Dustin Widofsky (Vocals/Guitars), Ben Antelis (Drums/Vocals), Jonathan Schevelowitz or "Sheepdog" (Bass) and Robby Tal (Lead Guitar).
Recently, Reality Addiction has become well-known through performing at miscellaneous Colleges/Festivals/Parties and various venues across the New York/ New Jersey area, including Googie's Lounge, The Living Room, Lion's Den, The Stone Pony, The Saint, Fat Baby, Snitch, The Stanhope House, Orphan Annie's, The Annex, The Bitter End, Wicked Willies, The Knitting Factory, the Underscore, Ace of Clubs and many, many more. They were also warmly received at the Schottenstein Cultural Center in midtown Manhattan, playing with the chart-topping duo, Evan & Jaron (Crazy for this Girl). With over 70,000 plays on their MySpace in a very short period of time, the band has established a rapidly growing fan-base; including over 700 members on their newly established street-team.
This past summer, the band released their first EP. The album was recorded and co-produced by Jake Antelis; an alumnus of SAE Institute of Audio Engineering, utilizing his vast knowledge of the science behind the sound. (www.Jantelis.com) Jake will again be working with the band (preproduction starting early march 08) on their first full-length album. Release date set for early summer 08.
Years ago in 2004, the band (under a different name) won Staten Island Battle of the Bands; and was awarded airplay/recording time through the College of Statent Island. In 2005 the band came in second place at a very large and competitive BOTB, which took place in Israel. Touring around Israel, and playing at many of the popular music clubs there, RA spent much time perfecting their live performance before bringing their game to NJ/NY.
Their music has been said to have grown beyond anyone's expectations, with a certain rare intensity and meaningful quality to every song. The band takes a special pride in offering more then just music; but a message. The self-titled EP has already been featured on dozens of radio stations including: MondoBlu, WPUB, WUPJ, K 94 Rocks, Homegrown Radio NJ, WCRX, Radio KeysDAN, LPM Radio, Radio Ugly, Gigplanner Radio, The Rock & Roll Review Podcast, CHS Radio, Terminal Replica Radio, Westside Will, CAYA Radio, Awesome Radio, CKRG and many more. We have been a featured artist on the following sites: Local Promo Northeast, Epic Jams, Catch It Promotions, Pep's Music Page, Mecky Promotions, NYC Entertainment, Shemspeed, Pandora.com, Radiofire, Jam Base, Gig Apple, Garage Band and many more. Our current single, "Something Like That" also airs on the "Independent Corner Show" on 88.1 WCRX Chicago. Numerous online magazines and local newspapers have interviewed and featured RA, including one in New Jersey where they stole a spot on the front page!
The band was also recently featured in a band-spotlight on the local TV program, "Jersey Fresh TV." JF came down to the studio to shoot an awesome interview, which can be viewed on this page. In addition, RA was recently announced as the first place winner of the 2007 EpicJams contest, that was won by getting the most online votes. The band is now in the process of receiving the many promotional prizes EpicJams will be sponsering. RA's EP is available through Itunes and Cdbaby.com
