About Real Steel - Runners up - Champions of Steel 2008
Real Steel Orchestra has been firmly established as the South West's best steel band for over 18 years now. With an intensive tour schedule embracing major festivals, venues and live events, they scale up and down the country supplying sweet pan music.
Real Steel are regular participants in the UK Notting Hill Panorama('champions of steel') competition. This annual event showcases their arrangements by the talented young arranger Leroy Clarke.
His interpretation of "The Bomb" in 2002 placed Real Steel at a very respectable third place.
More recently his rendition of ‘Celebration’ played in Panorama 2008 rewarded the band with a virtuous 2nd place; runners up in becoming the UK’s top steel band.
The band are based in Plymouth and their practises are held in The Soundhouse at Estover Community College.
