Real Time was formed in 2001 – I think – Too long ago to remember. We are a Jazz Trio comprised of Bob Wagner on drums, Hank Helton on guitar and Steve Emmons on organ and piano. We wanted to play some Jazz, Standards and a little Blues. We wanted to do everything from old to new and push ourselves musically. We’ve had a lot of fun and hope to continue playing together for years to come.
Bob began his music career in the Grade School Band and participated through High School. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education , he taught for several years at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He has played professionally since age 15. Now he’s an attorney – Go figure!
Hank started singing in Choir in the 5th Grade and also played trombone and baritone horn from 6th Grade through his Senior Year of High School. He took up playing guitar late in his Junior Year of High School. In 1974, he began his professional career and has been playing professionally ever since. He is a graduate of Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA.
Steve started taking piano and organ lessons when he was 7. He started playing professionally when he was 13. Over the years he has played in numerous bands ranging from Country, Swing, Rock and Jazz. He’s a Hammond Organ fan and still carries a Leslie to every gig.
