Hakkımda: 2006 Virginia Senate Race
By now, you've heard our efforts paid off. But we didn't know this on election night. In fact, the vote tally showed us behind almost from the start, and, with 90% of the vote counted, we were behind by 30,000 votes! At the "Wait-and-See/Victory Party" members of the grassroots organization Real Virginians For Webb (www.RealVirginiansForWebb.com) agonized, holding out hope, for five hours as votes were tabulated and each new update showed Webb to be behind. Watch this sneak preview from an upcoming documentary by award-winning director Eric Byler, with historic footage from election night, from the beginning of the "Real Virginians" movement, and after the victory was won:
In this video posted just 6 days before the election, Daniel Dae Kim ("Lost," "Crash") responds to Sen. George Allen's infamous "Macaca" statement and endorses Jim Webb.
Tuy Le and Wasim Entabi, two of the most devoted volunteers involved with the Jim Webb campaign for U.S. Senate, discuss the inspiration that kept them going:
GENERATION WEBB VOLUNTEERS!
Check out this 5 minute short subject about young volunteers working for the Webb campaign:
Even as our politicians seek to divide us — based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, legal status, or simply fear — the American public is reaching a new consensus: The values that unite us as a people run deeper than those that set us apart.
Real Virginians For Webb is a grassroots movement that rejects discrimination as a political platform, embracing instead a commitment to fairness, opportunity, and respect.
After six years of divisiveness, dishonesty, and corruption, Americans long to become one community again. Virginia's Senate race has produced a leader who can help us achieve this goal. Jim Webb offers the leadership, integrity, and clarity of vision we need to become one community again, and to lead the way for the rest of America to do the same.
Our nation needs to set a new course with RESPECT at its foundation: respect for ourselves and respect for others.
If you share Jim Webb's vision of America, stand up and join the fight.
OKAY JIM BOB....I'VE VOTED FOR YOU LAST NIGHT. It's a close vote. You have begged and pleaded with everyone to vote for you, now show us that you were worth our vote.
Hahahaa this is great. At least someone has gotten the idea to at least attempt to target the 18-25 votes. I do plan on voting for you jimmy boy, but I’m not totally impressed, plus you’re a democrat and party affiliations turn me off these days because all you guys do is bicker. But yay for paying a little bit of attention to my generation. Now if you and all the rest of the politicians will try a little harder you may have found the group that will win you your election :) have a nice day!
