I started this site, with the help of my friend and designer, Jessica, after seeing a post, on a My Chemical Romance fansite, from a young girl who said she no longer wanted to live. It broke my heart, because I have felt that, and even had a sister-in-law do it and I just felt so bad, that this young girl, was feeling this kind of pain. Then the idea of a book came to mind, "100 Reasons Not To Kill Yourself". Jessica suggested I start the myspace profile to get the 100 reasons for the book, that I hoped would save lives. Well, the book is finished, but the site continues on. The site has grown into more than just a place to gather info. It has become a place for people to come to leave their thoughts or to gain insight. Thank you all for your interest and support. As I have often said, I created the site, but you are the ones who make it awesome. You are the Angels saving lives. It is because of you that this site will continue on. And who knows, maybe there will be a sequel. There will never be too many reasons not to kill yourself. So, if you have one, send it in. And stories, too. The Problem
In the year 2000, approximately one million people died from suicide: a "global" mortality rate of 16 per 100,000, or one death every 40 seconds.
In the last 45 years suicide rates have increased by 60% worldwide. Suicide is now among the three leading causes of death among those aged 15-44 years (both sexes); these figures do not include suicide attempts up to 20 times more frequent than completed suicide.
Suicide worldwide is estimated to represent 1.8% of the total global burden of disease in 1998, and 2.4% in countries with market and former socialist economies in 2020.
Although traditionally suicide rates have been highest among the male elderly, rates among young people have been increasing to such an extent that they are now the group at highest risk in a third of countries, in both developed and developing countries.
Mental disorders (particularly depression and substance abuse) are associated with more than 90% of all cases of suicide; however, suicide results from many complex sociocultural factors and is more likely to occur particularly during periods of socioeconomic, family and individual crisis situations (e.g. loss of a loved one, employment, honour). - World Health Organization DO YOU WANT TO BE JUST ANOTHER STATISTIC?
Suicide is not a joke. I never knew how much it could shake up someones life until my friend and my friends ex boyfriend commited suicide. So, if you know someone who's thinking about it, tell someone. They may hate you, but you did the right thing and they might thank you for it later.

Thank you for the comment. I think what you're doing is great. I wish I had something like this when I was going through a rough patch in my life around 14-16. Many times I felt it would be better to leave this life than to stay. I now know better. Things are still hard, but I appreciate everyday that I am given on this earth. A lot of people don't realize that things will get better with time and help. When you find your reasons to live within yourself instead from others.
I have to applaud you on this site. I tried commiting suicide, and I'm very happy I failed. So many amazing things have happened since the attempt. As my old teacher used to say "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.
3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the President, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance. Remember to pray for your boss or supervisor also.
4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. It is surprising to many that this is our weakest finger, but any piano teacher will testify that it is a fact. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.
5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all, which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.
