Having withstood the test of time, Reason continues to personify both tenure and standard as one of Australia's true veterans of the underground hip hop scene. Through persistence of some 20 years, the standard is to once again be tested as Reason embarks on the next phase of raising awareness.
The Reason story reflects true preservation of his belief in maintaining a constant yet positive presence. Throughout the years, Reason has performed in pioneering Australian Hip Hop groups including NME, Intence Quality (IQ) and Centre Road, and alongside world class acts including Cypress Hill, Company Flow, Ice Cube, People Under The Stairs, Blackalicious, Ugly Duckling, DJ Cash Money, Black Eyed Peas, Souls of Mischief, Arrested Development, Moka Only, Hilltop Hoods, Yungun (UK), The Alkoholiks, Mr Lif , DJ A-Trak, Qbert, Task Force(UK), AKA, Scribe (NZ), Disorda (UK), Mama's Funk, Def Wish Cast, Dark Tower(NZ), Skunkhour, The Big Day Out plus hosting a plethora of Victorian and Australian DMC Finals, which is certainly the proof of his perseverance and his presence as a mainstay in the Australian music scene.
Over the years, Reason has performed regularly across the nation, alongside locals which have included Briggz and DJ Mark563in the their informal crew “FIRST CLASS”, Pegz, Bias B, Crossbred Mongrels, Funkoars, Hospice Crew, Art of War, Terra Firma, Muph n Plutonic, Flagrant, DJ Krisy, Ken Oath, Brother Stoney, Certified Wise, Dominion and Syllabolix Crews and many many others plus he hosted Melburnz Premier Hip Hop show 'HITTIN SWITCHES' on 106.7 PBS FM with Pegz for seven years.
Reason was also the featured artist for Triple J 'OZ MUSIC MONTH in November 2002.
Reason 'practices what he preaches' by promoting positive content in a context which is truly street, yet with a personal message contained within. Reason is a lover of politics, life, indigenous issues, youth issues, his family and the environment.
Reason spends his days as a High School teacher, doing what he does best - communicating important and relevant life messages. He is a strong supporter of the Aboriginal Reconciliation process and has worked with students and the Aboriginal community in ensuring that the word is spread. He is also a proactive facilitator working to educate youth on making the correct choices in life.
He is a true testament to hard work and living an existence according to the unlimited boundaries faced in everyday life. These are examples of the diversity, the listener envelops into their own conscience when embracing the Reason experience.
From the late 80’s and since becoming the first artist signed to the OBESE RECORDS label, home to such groups including the Hilltop Hoods & Pegs, Reason has succeeded in spreading the gospel through a variety of musical releases, guest spots and a plethora of live shows.
Playing a positive, proactive role within the Australian hip hop scene is certainly one element of Reason, which is undeniably one of the most enchanting aspects of this hard working musician.
