At just 17 Rebecca has already begun to pursue a career in music and the arts. From the age of three, Rebecca has shown an interest and passion for music and singing, which have led to her involvement in singing and performing in various concerts, television programs and competitions throughout the country and in America over the years.
In her early years Rebecca showed her passion for music by singing on BBC Radio Foyle, involvment in various other projects throughout the City and as a soloist for the opening of her new primary school which was televised on Irish Television. The event was attended by The Western Education Board of Governors, local politicians etc.
At the age of 10, Rebecca travelled to Lourdes to represent her city, where she took to the stage as both a soloist and member of the Derry Diocesan Choir. This led to prestigious performances in venues’ such as St Bridget’s Centre Lourdes, and the Underground Basilica to thousands of people.
Over the years Rebecca has been a student at the well known MacCafferty School of Music since the age of 4. Here she has received private vocal tuition from the acclaimed vocal tutor Una MacCafferty and still attends lessons throughout the year. Rebecca has recently completed her Grade 8 examinations for Singing and Drama through Trinity College London Examination Board & The Irish Board of Speech & Drama.
Last year Rebecca was awarded a Music Bursary to attend The Bel Canto School of Voice in Belfast where she received tuition from Marie O Sullivan.
2009 was the beginning of an exciting year for Rebecca as she travelled to Baltimore in Washington for St Patricks Day Celebrations with young people from Northern Ireland to sing and meet politicians such as Hilary Clinton and Governor O Malley of Washington. Rebecca then had the opportunity to sing solo at the Washington National Irish Beauru for many Irish and American Politian’s on St Patrick’s Day which was televised for both American and Irish Television.
This year Rebecca got the chance to record her own EP Album, under Busty Music LTD, containing her own material and other well known songs. Busty Music LTD is a new record label created by Keith Harkin, a singer song writer who is currently a member of CELTIC THUNDER. Rebecca looks forward to working along with her brother and promoting her EP. Also this year Rebecca took part in the TG4 Drama series “Ealu 2” which portrayed the most famous prison escapes in Ireland in the 1920’S.
She has recently played Piano to accompany Sephira which comprises of sisters Joyce O’Leary (vocals and violin) & Ruth O’Leary (violin and vocals) -two young classically trained musicians who have forged their own musical niche: at various events in Dublin and Kildare.
Rebecca is presently continuing her studies in Music and Drama and hopes to have an exciting career ahead of her in the Music Industry.
