Rebecca Hart is a musician and actor based in NYC. She fronts the "funked-up folk rock" band Rebecca Hart & the Sexy Children and can be found playing the occasional solo show as well. RH & TSC features members of the band LICORICE on bass & drums. The quartet will release "Live at Joe's Pub" in summer 09, an album recorded at their sold-out breakout show of 2/15/09.
"The impish Rebecca Hart has delighted audiences with her infectious stage presence and easy audience rapport. Backing Hart are the Sexy Children, three accomplished fusion musicians, providing rhythm for Hart’s rhyme, drawing on folk and funk foundations to inform their own unique style of rock n' roll." - Brooklyn Academy of Music web site
"Local stalwart Rebecca Hart is a fine modern folk-rocker—an impressively well-textured voice, sticky melodies and an ultratight band; like Dave Matthews with more soul and much better vocals. This is her Joe’s Pub debut, and she’s guaranteed to fill the pristine space with a potent dose of downtown heat." - Time Out New York
"Part rebel, part pixy... The best performer all year." - Thea Peterson, Red & Black, Washington & Jefferson College News
"Yow. Exactly the kind of record we're a sucker for. A chick singer/songwriter with a rocker's soul that has something to say and knows how to get her point across. Debuts like this deserve special attention when they come along. " (Midwest Record Recap, 5/06)
"Not exactly the coffeehouse folk of some female singer-songwriters... a lot of fire in its belly. " - Jason MacNeil, PopMatters Music Review 9/8/06
" A true artist ... folksy & funky collude to produce a very distinct and captivating sound... A strong & confident woman who demands listening." (Shaun Flagg, Skope Magazine, Jan/Feb Issue 29
