Rebecca Linda (Garcia) Smith was born into a military family and spent most of her young life between the United States and Germany. She began singing at four years of age and sang at school functions and in churches throughout Europe during her teenage years. Music has always played a major role in her life. Rebecca Linda’s life took many twists and turns that always seemed to point to God’s purpose for her future. She became a public school teacher for four years prior to a direct commission in the U.S. Army. She served on active duty as a military officer for over three years and then two years in the Army Reserves after she returned to teaching. She obtained a master’s degree in counseling and taught and worked with students and families during her teaching career. She continued to sing in churches, weddings, memorial services, and at various social and community events during this phase of her life. Yet, she always had a burning desire to sing on a full-time basis, hence her professional title, Rebecca Linda Smith-Renewed on her Gospel albums. She completed her first album, All For You, in 2004 in El Paso and later crossed over from Adult Contemporary Christian into Christian Country and Southern Gospel in her second album, Jesus’ Grace, recorded in Nashville in 2006. She has now moved over into the mainstream Inspirational and Country genres with her music video, released in April, 2006, of the song, “Do You Know Me,” from her second album and now with her upcoming Inspirational Country albums, Hope and True Love.
Rebecca Linda and her major songwriter husband, Dr. Robert Frank Smith, live in El Paso, Texas near their son, Bobby, and his wife, Ivy, and their four young children. The three oldest adopted children, all siblings, became the inspiration for the song, “Hope, penned by Rebecca Linda and the theme for the Hope project. She recorded all projects except her first CD with Gene Higgins, Founder and President of Higgins Music Group, Power Source Magazine, and the Christian Country Music Association in Nashville, Tennessee. Robert Frank and Rebecca Linda authored most of the song lyrics on these projects with music provided by Michael P. Schrimpf of Shrimp Music Company, Hendersonville, Tennessee. Most of these songs were inspired by real life situations and serve as a testimonial in their lives, like “Hope” as well as “True Love”, “Texas State Of Mind”, and “Wolves”, on the True Love album.
Rebecca Linda and Robert Frank have started their own record label, RENEWED RECORDS. This label was created because of the new direction they both felt that God was leading them. With a multitude of faith-based songs, they wanted to reach out to the masses and not just “sing to the choir.” Their new record label gives them the freedom to have songs that appeal to Inspirational and Country audiences as well as Christian Country, Southern Gospel, and Adult Contemporary Christian listeners. They both feel that God has given them a mission to reach out to the lost across the Globe who might not listen to Christian radio in order to “bless hearts and renew lives.”
Rebecca Linda’s classic media album, Timeless, a limited-edition souvenir project, completed in 2007 is a special souvenir album with selected songs from four albums including JESUS' GRACE, AMERICAN HEROES, TRUE LOVE, and HOPE.
This special collector’s CD features two Gospel duets with Rebecca Linda and Gospel Music legend, the late Dottie Rambo, and a Country duet with Grammy award-winning Country Music artist, Marty Raybon, former lead singer of the Country and Bluegrass group, Shenandoah.
Rebecca Linda also completed another major CD, American Heroes, in 2008. This special Patriotic CD is dedicated to all of our American military forces, their families, and support personnel who sacrifice unselfishly to preserve our freedoms and the American way of life. It includes all those ‘American Heroes’ in this great nation, past, present, and future who have given lives and limbs to serve others in times of peace and war. This Patriotic album with its passionate and heart-stirring single, “We Will Remember,” written by Robert Frank, has been made part of the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset, Pennsylvania, which honors the survivors and the fallen of September 11, 2001. This CD features a hit Country duet with Rebecca Linda and Dave Caley, her label mate and member of the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame.
Rebecca Linda has two 1 songs and four Top 10 songs from the Jesus’ Grace album and several hit Christian Country and Country songs from her other Inspirational projects. She is currently working on songs to complete her True Love album now planned for release in 2009 and her Hope album planned for release in 2010. Another Inspirational Country project, Lonely Hearts, is planned for release in 2011, all with distribution by Renewed Records and affiliated distributors. Rebecca Linda has a second music video to her credit, “That Living Water,” with the Inspirational hit song written by her husband. Both of her music videos have been shown on various television networks and programs around the country and can be viewed on various Internet sites.
Rebecca Linda is a Top 5 Nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year, 2008 ICM (Inspirational Country Music) Awards as she was in 2007 and Robert Frank was a Top 10 Nominee for Songwriter of the Year in both 2007 and 2008.
