Rebecca Shearing is Edinburgh’s leading female vocalist who has amassed an extremely impressive number of online supporters thanks to her raw & natural talent for singing. At the time of writing this biography, she is the 5th most-viewed musician of all time on YouTube, having posted 51 videos and receiving over 19 million views in the process. This admirable feat has been applauded by London’s Agency Global Records; the label she has since signed to. Originally from Ayr, Scotland, Rebecca currently resides in the country’s capital city, Edinburgh and has been singing for almost 15 years. She took her first formal singing lesson at just 5 years of age, and over the 10 years which followed, nurtured and developed her voice to professional standards. By counting Christina Aguilera & Beyonce as two of her biggest influences, at 15 she started to make her own home-made videos of herself singing various covers, and posted these on her very own YouTube channel. These covers have included; ‘Take a Bow’ by Rhianna (1.7 million views), ‘Hot n Cold’ by Katy Perry (1.5 million views) & ‘No One’ by Alicia Keys (1.5 million views). Whilst making these videos, Rebecca also started to write her own songs and post them onto the video website – The Song ‘Julia’, written with, her friend & fellow singer, Laurie McIntosh earlier this year, has proven to be her most popular composition to date with almost 60,000 views. Having been blown-away by the level of enthusiasm for her videos and the sheer number of views she was receiving, Rebecca easily secured gigs in various venues in Edinburgh & Glasgow, gaining a reputation as one of Scotland’s brightest young talents. Interest from labels and record industry professionals soon followed, but it was with Agency Global’s approach in October 2010 when Rebecca (18) felt the time was right to be signed and take her music career to the next level. Rebecca Shearing is set to release her debut single in April 2011.
