Freshly revealing, bright and beautiful... Rebecca's songs will stir your heart. Her deftly exquisite arrangements of voice and guitar, and graceful, grounded performances captivate audiences and takes them on a special journey, both within and without.
Originally hailing from the aptly named Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, Rebecca is currently on a European adventure. She left Australia's shores for the first time in May this year after accepting an invitation to join Australian folk duo 'Cloudstreet', as guest cello-singer on their four month tour of the UK, Denmark and Morocco. Reluctantly leaving a borrowed cello with its rightful owner at the end of the tour, Rebecca is now carrying just her guitar and backpack and is seeing where the music takes her.
For the past ten years, Rebecca has appeared at countless Australian festivals, including the world renowned Woodford & Port Fairy Festivals, and has supported many international acts including the Sharon Shannon Band (Ire), Grada (Ire), Chris While & Julie Matthews (UK) and James Keelaghan (Canada). She has also enjoyed long-term residencies at Irish and English pubs in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast.
Rebecca's debut album, “All I See”, was released in early 2006 and is an intimate collection of ten insightful original songs, along with renditions of Dar Williams' “February” and Julie Miller's “By Way of Sorrow”. On this album, Rebecca is joined by some of the Sunshine Coast's finest musicians and the result is truly magic.

“Is there a superlative that can describe Rebecca Wright and her music? Luminescent? Scintillating? Seductive? All of those and then add transcendent. Her songwriting is as exciting as her performance and put together they create a breathtaking and stunning alchemy.” Sandy McCutcheon - author, radio presenter
“Rebecca is a jewel in our local music industry... a fantastic artist." The Soundlounge
“Rebecca Wright is one of the new wave of the folk movement - a young woman with her musical roots firmly in the folk tradition, but whose vision stretches to the future, whose voice makes you sit up and take notice, and whose presence makes you want to listen. She has already won a national award, and her star is well on the rise. If this is the future of folk, we are in safe hands.”Judy Small
“Her music is a fresh breath to blow away cobwebs.”Helen Rowe - Judge, Declan Affley Memorial Award, National Folk Festival Australia
Biggest hugs and kisses right back atcha babe! It was one of the most amazing Wintermoon festivals I've experienced. I'm only just starting to recover now. Singing with the David Flower Band was a true highlight, I swear there were teenage boys calling my name from the moshpit - I cry a little bit to think about that. Oh yeah! And Sean stuck a sword through my neck - even Narcalepsy couldn't get me out of that one! I'm so sorry I didn't manage to come up to see you, but hearing your voice on the phone was a devine treat. much much much love always Nadia.
For inspiration just do this. Imagine you are 117 years old and one of your great great great grandchildren visits you at your death bed and gives you that look, you know, like "So, what did you do with all those years on planet earth? Knit?" Just kidding. You gotta do what you gotta do, be what you wanna be...yeeeeaaahhhh...
Hey Rebecca. Man that really gets up my goat about the message not getting through. JEEEEESSSSUUUSSS!!! I think I got a case of MYSPACE-RAGE! That means every message I've been replying to or sending on Myspace this past week or so have not gotten out. AAAAAGGGHHHHH!!!. Ok. So. Glad you like the Sad Sad Song. Hey I will collect my thoughts and write again later in the week. The short of it was that we will be leaving Berlin on Monday, March 2nd, and coming back around April 15th after various gigs, courses, house hunting etc etc. If that changes I will let you know. Also, met Rob Longstaff. Never knew him before. He said you already got a spot at LUX booked...great. Ok. Cheers.
Hi Rebecca. Just tried to send you a message... but my messages are so long, you know, and I think MySpace gets bored and goes to sleep. Let me know if you got it or not.
