rebecca jordan grew up in an all black neighborhood in ohio listening to everything from james brown to joão gilberto, motown to mozart, paul mccartney to the pixies, which explains the eclectic nature of her sound and also how she learned to fight.
"everyone in our family was musical, but music was something you did at church or at home on the weekends." so after high school, rebecca went off to study biomedical engineering. "i showed up wearing mocassins and tie-dye with a crystal around my neck. to say i didn't fit in would be an understatement. people always thought i was in the wrong building, they would point me towards the art department. one day I realized they were right."
rebecca financed, produced and released "The Trouble With Fiction" through her own tea party records. the 6 song ep includes 5 original songs and a signature interpretation of the stevie nicks classic, "dreams".
most recently, rebecca woke up and found herself in brooklyn, courtesy of her songwriting royalties. now the subway train is her writing room, observation deck, and mixing suite.
what are her influences? at the moment: her metrocard, the statue of liberty, aretha franklin, grizzly bear, james booker, the cocteau twins, vampire weekend, bob dylan, jay z, and the boxes she still needs to unpack.
I still LOVE your version of 'Dreams'. I was so happy to see that you'd made a video for it. Keep up the fantastic work beautiful lady, and thank you for the music!
Love "Battlefield" Rebekah! Got a question for you though....do you know anywhere I can watch the "Sin So Well" video? I can't find anything on Youtube!
We were driving back from the Kid Rock concert last night and I put in "Remember to Breath". Those songs are great and really hold up. I love your songwriting and you made some new fans last night.
Miss Jordan! How have you been? I hope everything in your world has been amazing. I'm planning a trip to WeHo soon, so I'm thinking we might need to go to Hamburger Mary's!

I just stopped by to say that your voice does something to words that my fingers and eyes can't and I greatly appreciated that. It's sweetness helps me focus when I need to feel sad -- not that I only enjoy your sad music, cause it's all good. Just lately the melancholy passes easier when I hear your voice.
