-classic progressive country, with a twist of lime-
Peers and artists have said of Rebekah's talents that "her voice radiates from her soul and allows you to feel what she is singing. Others have commented that hearing her sing is "pure, wholesome, and passion" all mixed together which creates the style and ability you get when you listen to Rebekah. Her truly God-given talents "reach people in a way you can't express, captivating and touching them, yet Rebekah is a ball of energy as an individual and a performer." Not only does she have "tremendous capability of doing much more" than she is doing, she has a way of communicating a song with such color, emotion, and a sometimes a little grit on the side.
Rebekah grew up rather torn between several southern US states. Born in Texas yet living in various southeastern states such as FLorida, Tennesse, Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina throughout her childhood and adolescence, created a well-rounded Rebekah and has a lot to do with who she is today. Not a military kid, but belonging to a family whose calling was in music ministry, needless to say she started out singing at a very young age in local churches. The daughter of a music minister, she learned to sing and perform from her father who has a Masters in Music. Try having a "live-in vocal coach" your whole life! Her childhood years were spent growing up in the Nashville area, where Rebekah was privileged to have several years experience in kids studio recording projects, national commercials, modeling and acting. Looking back, she realizes what a privilege it was to have a dad involved in so many music venues, Opryland, Music City Christian Fellowship, recording, and even Hee Haw! Rebekah thinks fondly of the times that as a kid she could hang out backstage at the Opry, listen to musicians and artists while her dad was working, and meet people like Hank Williams Jr, Jack Green, Roy Clark, Paul Richey, and Barbara Mandrell, to name a few. As a young child she had no idea of the honor!
In 1994 her family moved to Douglasville, GA outside Atlanta where she continued to perform in local community events, talent auditions, weddings, and opening for artists in the Contemporary Christian circle. Rebekah's dad unlocked the natural God-given talents that were already there, but high school was the era where she began to hone her craft and become versatile in performing a variety of styles. She credits much of her performance experience and love of performing to her vocal coach and high school music director Peggy Killian. Rebekah also had the privilege of recording a solo album entitled "Home" produced and engineered by Tom Reeves at Westpark Sound Studio here in Franklin, TN at the tender age of 15. Most of the songs were Contemporary Christian covers with a few that she and her dad co-wrote together. She also learned to play piano and guitar, and would occasionally accompany herself and begin to write songs. She is definitely what you would consider a "Georgissean" at heart.
Her love of the stage and inspiring people through song developed over these years and upon graduating high school she was accepted to and offered a scholarship at Berklee College of Music in Boston, but opted to attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia where a full scholarship was awarded to sing and travel on The Sounds of Liberty, a regular group on The Old Time Gospel Hour program. She later married the lead guitar player of the group, and the two spent 2 years in Raleigh, 2 in Wilmington, North Carolina, and one year in Nashville singing, performing and actively involved in local church music ministry.
With deep roots in the south, country and gospel music, Rebekah and her husband Chad reside in North Carolina and look forward to any opportunity to sing and perform.
