    REBEL Comx's Interests
GeneralI like to draw, paint, sculpt, act, sing, dance, watch TV/Movies, listen to music, read, write, collect swords, play video games, tennis, volleyball, and hang out with friends and family...oh yeah, and Boys.
MusicAnything except rap and country. But some of my favorites include Creature Feature, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Incubus, Savage Garden (seen them in concert twice). Lots of techno, trance, mostly soundtrack stuff like to the Matrix movies or Hackers. All depends on my mood for the day, maybe a little swing, maybe something a little dark like some Marylin Manson, or some goofy, light 90's stuff like Ace of Base.
MoviesRight now, I'm all about V For Vendetta. The imagery is incredible, V is an amazing character, and I really loved how they took the whole religious fanaticism in governement thing to the dangerous level. I'm sure if the Christain Right Wing had there way, all the gays and bis and anyone of another religion would be treated as they were in V's world. Also love the Matrix films, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (read all the books), The 5th Element, lots of sci-fi/adventure stuff. Love all the Star Wars movies, though I wish George hadn't actually written the script for the newest 3. I don't care what planet your from, "I don't like sand" is not a pick up line. My favorite Jedi character is Mace Windu. I love the purple lightsaber and I love the idea that the saber style he practices nearly takes him to the darkside...I'm all about the Balance...that's why the Sith and the Jedi never actually defeat each other...but that's another discussion...
TelevisionTHE VENTURE BROS. RULES! Myth Busters!, Ghost Hunters, South Park, The Fairly Odd-Parents, Spongebob Squarepants, anything on the history channel about pre-modern times (I'm a huge fan of ancient history and religion. I like to know WHY things are the way they are.)
BooksAll the Harry Potter books. No they aren't just for kids. You really get sucked into the stories. Big into the Thomas Covenant Chronicles, and of course, COMIC BOOKS (though mostly the stuff I come up with myself)! Love books about history, religions, magic and philosophy. I have a large magic library.
Heroes10 years after the LGBT community stood up and said "No More" because of the murder of Matthew Shephard, Lawrence King, a 15 year old gay California boy who would wear make up and high heeled boots to school, was murdered while attending class. He never apologized for what he was and, as a result, was bullied every day for being different. After asking another boy in his class to be his valentine, the boy brought a gun to school and shot Larry in the head. Larry was pronounced legally dead several days later (He had been listed as brain-dead while in the hospital). Larry is the perfect example of a true hero. At only 15, he did not back down, he did not apologize for what he was, he was an inspiration and a blessing to his friends and family...and is now a martyr for the cause of LGBT Equality.

About me:

This profile was edited with funerella.com Editor

Myspace Layouts I am a 27 year old aspiring cartoonist and comic book creator living in Allentown, PA. I developed a love for fantasy and adventure at a very young age (thank you, Return of the Jedi), and have been drawing since the age of 5. It was at the age of 13, however, with the premiere of the Saturday morning X-Men cartoon, that I became interested in comics. Since then I've created dozens of my own characters and storylines in hopes of someday starting my own comic book company which I called REBEL Comx. As such, it became the name for nearly all of my email addresses (minus the space). Over time, and after coming out of the closet at 17, many of my existing stories and characters were revamped through personal notations to include LGBT characters and stories. I also created several new series based completely around gay characters, including one camp team of gay pride superheroes. In my senior year of high school, I was accepted into the Joe Kubert School—at the time, the only school in the country completely focused on comic book art—but could not attend because of financial issues. Instead, I spent a semester at my local community college, but quit after realizing that they wouldn't be able to help me get into the comic book biz. It also certainly didn't stop my learning process as I became even more interested in history, religion, and philosophy and could probably confound a few priests with their own religious history (something I take pride in as I grin evilly, hehehe). I have very ecclectic interests in music, art, theater, science, history, comedy, blah blah blah... I also have a huge interest in acting and more 3D arts. In 2007, the haunted house I acted at for 4 years shut down and I decided to actually build stuff to spook up my own front yard for Halloween. Currently I work a full time job to pay the bills but do artistic work on the side, which has been made much easier with my brother teaching me to use Photoshop. Any supervisor or manager I've ever had says the same thing to me when the walk past my desk and see me doodling (which is ALWAYS)..."What are you still doing HERE?" My style has been influenced by classic, anime, and erotic comic book artists (though I'm always worried someone will think I'm just a Joe Phillips rip off), and I often lean more towards one style depending on the project. In the past I have done poster, playbill, and t-shirt designs for high school and community theater productions, have been commissioned to draw people's RPG characters, sold paintings, designed tattoos, created decor for holiday projects at home and work, done face painting and Halloween/special effects makeup, done costume and character designs for other people's movie or video game projects, sold posters for charity, and (most notably) illustrated "Bandit to the Rescue" - a children's book published in 2005. In April of 2008, two of my posters that sold at a charity auction caught the attention of the editor of GAYDAR Magazine, a local Lehigh Valley gay news publication. Shortly after the posters sold, I was contacted by GAYDAR for an interview and just after the interview, I was also asked by the editor to create an image for the COVER of the Summer 2008 Issue. Unfortunately, the editor was later convinced by several designers to use a photo of a model as they usually do. They did end up using my image, but made it too small to see an detail and placed it poorly on the Letter from the Editor page. The GAYDAR article was spotted by submissions directors for a prominant distributor of LGBT greeting cards and calendars and I am working on greeting card designs for them. I also created some logo designs for Pride of the Greater Lehigh Valley's annual Pride festival and am current working on illustrations for an upcoming book of LGBT youth short stories. Enjoy the other artwork in the My Pics section and feel free to contact me if you'd like some work done! REBELComx@yahoo.com, REBELComx@aim.com
