Ben's Interests
|
| General | I like to draw, paint, sculpt, act, sing, dance, watch TV/Movies, listen to music, read, write, collect swords, play video games, tennis, volleyball, and hang out with friends and family...oh yeah, and Boys.

You are The Magician
Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.
Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing,
you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.
The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.
What Tarot Card are You? Take the Test to Find Out.
| | Music | Anything except rap and country. But some of my favorites include Creature Feature, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Incubus, Savage Garden (seen them in concert twice). Lots of techno, trance, mostly soundtrack stuff like to the Matrix movies or Hackers. All depends on my mood for the day, maybe a little swing, maybe something a little dark like some Marylin Manson, or some goofy, light 90's stuff like Ace of Base. | | Movies | Right now, I'm all about V For Vendetta. The imagery is incredible, V is an amazing character, and I really loved how they took the whole religious fanaticism in governement thing to the dangerous level. I'm sure if the Christain Right Wing had there way, all the gays and bis and anyone of another religion would be treated as they were in V's world. Also love the Matrix films, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (read all the books), The 5th Element, lots of sci-fi/adventure stuff. Love all the Star Wars movies, though I wish George hadn't actually written the script for the newest 3. I don't care what planet your from, "I don't like sand" is not a pick up line. My favorite Jedi character is Mace Windu. I love the purple lightsaber and I love the idea that the saber style he practices nearly takes him to the darkside...I'm all about the Balance...that's why the Sith and the Jedi never actually defeat each other...but that's another discussion... | | Television | THE VENTURE BROS. RULES! Myth Busters!, Ghost Hunters, South Park, The Fairly Odd-Parents, Spongebob Squarepants, anything on the history channel about pre-modern times (I'm a huge fan of ancient history and religion. I like to know WHY things are the way they are.) | | Books | All the Harry Potter books. No they aren't just for kids. You really get sucked into the stories. Big into the Thomas Covenant Chronicles, and of course, COMIC BOOKS (though mostly the stuff I come up with myself)! Love books about history, religions, magic and philosophy. I have a large magic library. | | Heroes | 10 years after the LGBT community stood up and said "No More" because of the murder of Matthew Shephard, Lawrence King, a 15 year old gay California boy who would wear make up and high heeled boots to school, was murdered while attending class. He never apologized for what he was and, as a result, was bullied every day for being different. After asking another boy in his class to be his valentine, the boy brought a gun to school and shot Larry in the head. Larry was pronounced legally dead several days later (He had been listed as brain-dead while in the hospital). Larry is the perfect example of a true hero. At only 15, he did not back down, he did not apologize for what he was, he was an inspiration and a blessing to his friends and family...and is now a martyr for the cause of LGBT Equality. |

About me:
Free witchy layouts at spelldust.com
Behold the wonders and awe of my mighty...oh nevermind. My name's Ben, but you can call me Benjamin, Benji, Benj, Benny, Ben-Jammin, BJ, or just plain Rebel. I'm a 27 year old, gay, perpetually single, born-again pagan, and I live in Fogelsville, PA with my younger brother. I currently work as a technician dispatcher for a local cable company but am continuing my never ending quest to break into the comic book biz. In my free time (and sometimes in my NOT so free time), I like to draw, paint, sculpt, act, sing, dance, watch TV/Movies, listen to music, read, write, collect swords, play video games, tennis, volleyball, and hang out with friends and family. I'm also trying to get back in shape with a work out routine. Thank the gods there's a gym in my office.
My purpose on Myspace is to get reaquainted with some old friends, make new friends (possibly a date) and to expand public knowledge of my artwork in a shameless self promotion of my talents. :)
In the past I have done poster, playbill, and t-shirt designs for high school and community theater productions, have been commissioned to draw people's RPG characters, sold paintings, designed tattoos, created decor for holiday projects at home and work, done face painting and Halloween/special effects makeup, done costume and character designs for other people's movie or video game projects, sold posters for charity, and (most notably) illustrated "Bandit to the Rescue" - a children's book published in 2005.
In April of 2008, two of my posters sold at a charity auction caught the attention of the editor of GAYDAR Magazine, a local Lehigh Valley gay news publication. Shortly after the posters sold, I was contacted by GAYDAR for an interview and just after the interview, I was also asked by the editor to create an image for the COVER of the Summer 2008 Issue. Unfortunately, the editor was later convinced by several designers to use a photo of a model as they usually do. But my work will still appear as the background for the Letter from the Editor page. I was also just informed that my interview will actually be a 2 page spread...that's a page more than I expected. This issue should be available May 16th at bookstores (Border and Barnes&Noble, people. Not that porno shop down the street), and will be given away at local gay clubs and Pride events throughout the summer. Once the new issue is available, I'll put up a copy of the image I did for the cover. In the mean time, enjoy the other artwork in the My Pics section and feel free to contact me if you'd like some work done! REBELCOMX@yahoo.com
