Marquiss discovered hip-hop when he was 14 years old after he watched Nas' "If I ruled the world" music video on television. Soon after, he bought his first hip-hop cd and fell in love with the art of writing .For the next 3 years Marquiss continued to craft his own songs and hone his rapping skills. In 2001, Marquiss met MC/Producer B-Roc, who was in the process of putting up his own independent music label (Turbulence Productions) and decided that he would want to move with the development of the label. Marquiss' first solo recording "The Blackhole" produced by B-Roc debuted at number 8 on Barangay Fliphop's Top 10 local countdown of the now defunct Power108 radio station. Marquiss was then labeled as the next to flourish amongst the pool of youngsters in hiphop. In 2004, Marquiss served as the opening act for the internationally acclaimed Invncbl Skatkh Piklz's DJ Qbert QFO Tour in Manila. 2005 Marquiss' song "Wishing On A Star" was the first song in the B-Sides CD for the highly anticapated independent hiphop debut release of Turbulence Productions. The song stood out in an album full of classic songs that included 7shots of Wisdom, Mike Swift, Jolo, God's Will, Nimbusnine and more. This gave Marquiss the recognition and it helped him propel to the next level. The next year, Marquiss appeared on two songs on Ill-J's (Sun Valley Crew) debut album "The Journey" that also featured Uela of Chillitees, SVC, Dash, PKSO and more. 2006 marks the overwhelming Marquiss team up with super producer Chrizo to construct the "G.R.A.E." (Greatest Rap Album Ever). The MC-Producer duo enlisted the help of some of local hip-hop's most respected MC's and up and coming international MC's from San Francisco, Forensic Science and Hasan Salaam (The Source Magazine OCT '06) from New Jersey. The song "Break Bread" featuring Hasan Salaam is a worldwide subject helping each other out to attain they're dreams. The song "Beautiful Woman" invites a more flavorful insight about our mothers and him growing up from a broken home. The album is portrayed and is able to capture what G.R.A.E. means, Mastaplann after a 4 year hiatus has blessed this album and appears on one of the stellar tracks. Quest also appears in the album with a very memorable performance over the song "Soul Of A Rebel". Marquiss' music is able to relate to any enthusiasts who believes in change. The idea of having the greatest rap album ever is more susceptible to wanting to raise the bar of musicality and presence of hiphop rather than boasting. In March 2007, Team G.R.A.E toured Cebu to jumpstart the promotion for the CD. Hitting up several radio stations and winning over the crowds with performances in fully packed clubs. Marquiss then linked up with Carby Salvador to direct the albums first music video, "You Don't Know/ MC' which will hit music video channels real soon. TEAM G.R.A.E. is also the spokesperson and brand developer of the Mark Bandigan clothing line named "SPECKS".
