Gore Girl's Interests
General
Like I said, films, especially horror flicks, ghosthunting, hockey, etc. Pretty much a wide variety too vast to list here. Yes, I am proud to say I am a die hard Golden Girls fan.
Music
I'm a fan of many styles of music. I have to say that classic rock is my absolute favorite. Although, I will admit my guilty pleasure is 80's hair bands.
Movies
O.k. This is insane. I really can't put my thoughts about film on this little space. I'll try and sum it up. Love my classic horror with the old Universal Gang. Nothing better than Lugosi, Karloff, Chaney, Lanchester, Raines. Personal love goes to Creature From The Black Lagoon, not so much to the sequels. Any horror flick from the early days (pre 1950's) is special in some way. They worked with what they had and paved a path for horror that can never be out done.
The 1950's surge of drive-in B flicks steal a little piece of my heart. Them!, Attack of the Giant Leeches, Killer Shrews, Wasp Woman, The Brain That Wouldn't Die. All severely necessary for a good collection.
Vincent Price films are priceless and he is a god in my humble eyes. Gotta love the 1960's psychological stories and inflation of the words "Scream Queen". Psycho being one of my absolute favorites and to me Hitchcock is a film god. To see through his eyes is truly a gift.
Can't forget Hammer horror! Love them.
The 1970's were great with their psychodrama's, experimental indie and outright blunt supernatural force. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Hills Have Eyes, Phantasm all make me smile fondly on an essential decade.
That's when filmmakers really got gritty, said screw it and just made films. Love it!
I do give props to Argento and Fulci. They stole a huge chunk of my heart. I think they were pioneers and very understated geniuses.
Let's see... Of course, The Exorcist is my all time fav. Believe it or not but it's the film that made me realize what I was born to do.
The 1980's were awesome just for the pure campiness of it. Slasher flicks were dumb but hysterical and somehow left you with a feeling of dirty fulfillment. You just love them because they were bad. There were notable movies in this period. Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hunger, Fright Night. However, as good as these movies could be, they are far overshadowed by campy, predictable and mediocre fare like April Fool's Day, Friday the 13th sequels. Still, we love the 80's. GO RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD!
To me the 90's were quite dull with a few exceptions like Silence of the Lambs and Scream. The rest was teeny bopper fluff. Some were okay as in the 80's flicks ya just dig, but most were unbearable. Hollywood's attempt to steal 13 and 14 year old kids' candy allowances.
So far there were a couple films that brought a smile or two but nothing that I could say I absolutely thought was horror history making. Troma still brings me joy. Love you guys! Keep rockin'!
That's my "summed up" movie interest sheet.
Television
I don't have too much time to watch t.v. anymore but I do recall the days of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Freakylinks. Good times, Good times. My new love is The L Word. AWESOME.
Books
I love to read! Like anything with a twinge of horror, macabre or suspense. One of my hobbies is serial killers. More like a morbid obsession. I love dissecting their psyches. Fascinating.
Okay people, I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. It's just damn good reading. Favorite Potter book? It's a tie between Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Pheonix.
Heroes
There are a two people I admire but I don't call them my heroes. Alfred Hitchcock and Walt Disney.
I am a writer, movie critic and ghosthunter with intense passion for my crafts. I believe that film is a canvas to be explored and tested so why copy off the guy next to you? Having fun and being a true fan of film is what making movies is all about. To me, most of the indie films out today are jokes posing as movies. What happened to the rag-tag days of Raimi and Hooper? Where's the fire, the spark, the balls-out-in-your-face beauty of a well made film?
I attended Tom Savini's Special Effects School and had a blast. Ah, nothing better than a sweet decapitation or some dripping, bloody zombie flesh.
As a writer, I can see my work as almost Hitchcockian. Gotta love getting inside someone's head and rapidly stirring their brains to a thick froth.
I'm also a Leo, which I am 100% through and through no matter what you read. Basically, I love horror movies, hockey, living out your true dreams and just having fun with life. Let's RULE THE WORLD!!!!
I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 You are Regan, from "The Exorcist." You freak.
Who I'd like to meet: Anybody out there who wants to push the film and art boundaries and supports creative freedom. Also, anyone interested in the paranormal or getting crazy and going ghostbusting.
First EVP? At Bachelor's Grove Cemetery in Illinois. I love getting everybody involved and making insanity. C'mon people, let's conquer the world!!! HA HA HA HA!
Michael Myers from the Halloween series.
--This is just a short note, from the olde vampyre himself, in thanks for welcoming FAMILY DRAQUAL into your life. --Hugs (if you dare get that close). –Vlad
