Glenn with the words, humour and unbelievable music knowledge, Andy with the tunes and tight trousers, and the elusive third member of Rebel Rabble is Juanita aka Miss Rebel Rabble - a 7 foot tall Mexican beauty queen who ended up in Horsforth having got lost when transferring at leeds Bradford airport on a intercontinental flight...she now joins the boys on stage to help radiate beauty out to the lucky punters each night.
Influences
Where do you want to start, and how much time have you got?! Anything from the following really...
Johnny Cash, The Clash, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, The Pogues, 2nd State, Arise, Tom Russell, Neil Young, The Handsome Family, Miles Davis, Black Crowes, Captain, Jimi Hendrix, J.J.Cale, Kings of Leon, Led Zep, Tim Rose, The Pixies, Kursaal Flyers, Talking Heads, Cockney Rebel, The Smiths, Slade, Trash Can Sinatras, British Sea Power, Las Ketchup, Christy Moore, Motorhead, The Pogues, Nouvelle Vague, John Martyn - we could go on but we'd only get boring..!
Sounds Like
Nothing you've ever heard before!! Two tossers at the end of the night in the pub, singing and playing their hearts out at last orders, hoping that someone will buy them a beer
With Glenn on Vocals and Harmonica, and Andy on Guitar and Vocals, REBEL RABBLE blend a wide range of musical influences to create a sound that is all their own...from the quality country of Johnny Cash, Tom Russel and The Handsome Family, to their own take on classic songs by bands from The Buzzcocks to Motorhead and anything in-between.
Add in traditional and modern Celtic influences to help the Guinness flow, as well as their own tongue in cheek songs about (amongst others) nosey neighbours, privet hedges and going into space with Frank Sinatra, and you have a combination that you'll not forget in a hurry!
The story behind the Canoe Song
........
hi andy, great to hear from you, bet neil young was great. I saw him in 2001 with crazy horse he was great but a bit bad tempered. Me and sioned just saw dwezil zappa in birmingham, the band was fantastic, playing all frank zappa classics with the 1970s apostrophe type line up. Ace. Just written a new song that's in 3/4 which is a first (still sounds like james taylor and is about shagging tho!!) Hope all is well with you and yours,
I needed a good excuse to join the world of social networking - hope things are going well. Like the new stuff - I can hear the subtle Oblivion influences ;-) Look forward to the first million selling album!
