Late in 2007 a group of musicians and music lovers alike, disenchanted by the current music system, got together over a bottle or two of their favoured ale and came up with the idea to create a space that would help, support and develop the careers of independent artists both individually and as a community. .. Big thoughts, led to big talk, which led to big action and low and behold Rebel Spirit Music was born. .. The creators of ..Rebel Spirit Music.. recognized a trend within the local music scene growing in Manhattan. Great music, great people, all pursuing their individual careers, each on their own but not utilizing what and who was right around them to take things to the next level. .. Our goal is to draw the community together, starting in New York and ending, well who knows where? We are also excited to offer FREE showcases and forums of amazing artists which take place twice monthly at The Rockwood Music Hall. These events are designed to share wonderful music and to spend time networking face to face.
