We have lost the tunnel vision of our addictions and discovered that there is a whole wide world of possiblities out there as we continue in our recovery.
Music
Dennis Jernigan has a lot of wonderful music offering hope in Christ. Dennis walked away from homosexuality many years ago and is walking in freedom with his wife and children.
Movies
Believe it or not, Walt Disney's The Kid is a great way to learn about healing prayer. Bruce Willis plays a fourty year old jerk who meets his nine year old self. His mini-him takes him back in time to understand where a lot of his wounds and hangups got started. That helps him to see the truth about himself and smash a lot of his strongholds.
Television
The Travel Channel. I love to see how people live in other cultures.
Books
There are a lot of good books that can help you on your healing journey. Andy Comiskey's Pursuing Relational Wholeness is a good one to start with if you're walking away from homosexuality. Others are You Don't Have to be Gay, by Jeff Konrad; Healing Homosexualilty by Leanne Payne; and Restoring the Masculine Soul. There are many others for people who want to know how to help someone who is strugglng with homosexuality. Falling Forward by Craig Lockwood is a great workbook for people who are struggling with sexual addiction. Every Man's Battle is another great book to start with for that issue as well. Door of Hope by Jan Frank is a great book for people healing from childhood sexual abuse.
Heroes
Any man or woman who has stood against the pressures of popular culture and returned to godly sexuality.
About me: My name is Dan Hitz. I'm the director of Reconciliation Ministries and I have walked away from unwanted same sex attraction. There are thousands of men and women like me who used to embrace homosexuality or bisexuality and are now embracing a specifically heterosexual orientation. Reconciliation Ministries has been around since 1984 and we have seen so many people stand against the voices in today's culture that say homosexuaity is inborn and unchangable. It is neither. The man who founded this ministry walked away from homosexuality over 30 years ago and is still happily married to the same woman and activily involved in ministry. We also help people with other sexual problems like internet pornography addiction, transgender issues, and more. We can walk alongside of you and offer support if you are a childhood sexual abuse survivor. All of the men and women on our ministry team have experienced their own healing from sexual or relational issues and are activily walking out our recovery by the grace and power of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you are struggling with sexual bondages and don't know where to turn, you can call us at 586.739.5114 and get the help you need. You can also visit our website at www.recmin.org and find out more about our programs. There is hope and healing through the power of Jesus Christ.
You can also visit the websites of our friends like Exodus North America at www.recmin.org, Desert Stream Ministries at www.desertstream.org, Shiloh Place Ministries at www.shilohplace.org, Celebrate Recovery at www.celebraterecovery.org, and xxxchurch.org. We have a lot more friends who can help you walk into sexual purity. Give us a call and we can talk. 586.739.5114.
Who I'd like to meet: Men and women who are serious about walking in sexual purity while establishing healthy relationships. No matter where you've ben and what you've done, there is always hope in Christ.
To all, please check out and pass on my site. It's just a collection of my thoughts/experiences with depression/suicide attempts/struggles, my poetry, songs, and artwork, as well as resources and advice. I am always available to message and respond the best I can.
I am a RN, working on a certificate in Biblical Counseling and just started work on my masters in Mental Health Counseling. I am not a licensed counselor yet, but I will offer whatever advice/encouragement I can. Even if all it is is letting you know I have been there, I know how it feels. Don't give up. You've made it this far. Suicide is a permanent "solution" to a temporary problem. Don't give up. Choose Life.
I know that you will have a 'busy' holiday season so remember, breathe deeply and take a minute or two to reflect on the love of Christ! That's what Christmas is all about.
I'm so glad that we are friends and brother and sister in Christ!
