I was raised in mountains and forests, rivers and bends, pine trees and blue sky. Open space made inlets around my heart so that I could breathe. Sunshine made patterns on my skin and put gold in my hair. The west gave way and I tumbled eastward, a mirage of boat fog and sea lettuce. I feel the considerable expansion rising and falling in my chest and continue to feel movement under my feet. I wake up on a mountain pass over the seashore. I wake to home.
