Recoil was formed in September 2005. The band got together and started to write various original material which incorporated styles of music ranging from hardcore to other metalcore influences. Before hitting the stage in March, Recoil recorded ‘Behold the Great’ (Garage recording) which eventually was put online on myspace. This gave Recoil a positive push as it offered their audience a taste of what the band’s music was like. Recoil’s debut live show was held on March 24th at The Liquid Club in San Gwann, Malta, which launched the band in a big way with its already loyal fans. Recoil than shared stages with other Local Maltese talents throughout the rest of the year.
In the late summer of 2007 Recoil launched their first album 'the great divide' which had a positive reception from the local scene in malta. With new line-up changes, Recoil has now decided to venture into a more raw hardcore style and will soon hit the stage some time soon.
