Everything from A to Z, including Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Brass Bands, Cajun, Christian, Classical, Country, Folk, Funk, Fusion, Gospel, Heavy Metal, Hip Hop, Jazz, New Age, Opera, Pop, Punk, Rap, Reggae, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, Rockabilly, Singer-Songwriter, Soul, Spoken Word, Swamp Pop, Swing, Symphonic, Techno, Urban, Zydeco, and everything in between can be heard coming from our musical region of the country.
The Memphis Chapter of The Recording Academy, which was founded in 1973, works closely with local music professionals and organizations to support the region's flourishing music communities. Even though the Chapter is located in Memphis, it serves music communities along the Mississippi River from St. Louis down through Memphis on to New Orleans, encompassing all of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and West Tennessee.
The Chapter nourishes the region's music scene by producing many professional development and networking events. A wide range of programs are scheduled on an regular basis to help the music community stay informed of current issues, trends, and The Recording Academy's national initiatives.
The Memphis Chapter's GRAMMY University Network (GRAMMY U) continues to connect college students from the region with regional music industry professionals and each other.
Whether it's presenting top industry professionals at educational programs, hosting fun events where Chapter members can come together to network among their peers or documenting the historical significance of the region, the Memphis Chapter continues to serve the region's music communities.
