my painting had come to a stand-still -- well, relatively speaking -- for
the past couple of months... this weekend, however, i finally made the
decision to go forward with a white-on-white piece for the "birth of
the cool" series i am working on... this piece will be called "darn
that dream"....

having broken through that psychological barrier i completed work on
two canvases that have been hanging fire for several months... one of
them is a collaboration, of sorts, with an unknown artist whose
abandoned canvas i scavenged from a wash. u.


student's dumpster on
move-out weekend... the challenge here is to come up with a work that
someone would keep and treasure if they found it in a dumpster... it's
a collaboration because the unknown student applied some sort of
plastic to their canvas leaving a sort of "mountain range/gash" down
the middle of the canvas... looking at a book on zao wou-ki served as the
inspiration i needed to add to the work i had already done on the
piece.... i'm pretty sure i'm done now....

i also worked today on a piece that just wasn't happening... i'm not
sure if i'm happy with it yet... but it's better than it was....

in working on the three larger canvases, i also worked on three small
7" x 5" works on paper... two of them are finished but the third still
needs... something....
