Born in Hong Kong and brought up in Somerset, John Pennells aka Re:criminate has quickly
established himself as a fresh face in Drum and Bass. After getting into dnb in 1994
when a friend hooked him onto a tape of a London pirate radio station, he mastered the
skills of Djing and played his first set in 1999.
Influenced by the likes of Adam F, Roni Size & the full cycle crew, Re:criminate decided
to embark on a Logic tutorial with Kubiks (Rubik Records) in 2007 and soon grasped the
skills to produce his own material.
How would you describe your style?
“Iʼm not really sure I have a style, I make what I like to hear, I can get inspiration from a
sample, T.V or another tune I hear, then get into the creative zone and make what I see
and hear in my mind.”
With now a handful of releases under his belt and huge support from the likes of London
Elektricity (Hospital) & Crissy Criss (Radio 1), There is no doubt that this man will be a
name to look out for in the coming year.

Hi ! Just here to inform (like so many) that a new track is on myspace called "Subtle Things". This is a nervous and mechanic drum'n'bass stuff ! Thank's for you're listenin'.
Hey, hope all is well! Come by the page and check out my newest tunes "Midnight Rush" and "Gamer's Delight" recently added to the player when you get a chance.
"Midnight Rush" has a more Brookes Brothers/Futurebound vibe while "Gamer's Delight" is just full-blown analog bliss. Leave some love if you like what you hear, it's always appreciated. Big up!
