General Biogragraphy:
Master Welder/sculptor of recycled/found object metal assemblage.
I found an old welder on the dump and still use it after many long years of service, I am completely self- taught in everything I do and follow no rules of technique. The majority of my work is truly one of a kind and made from my heart without the primary goal of making money. I see shapes in Junk that remind me of significant parts of natural life and work them in varied scale into my art. I prefer rust as a patina because it is a living surface that gives life to the piece. I do not usually grind the metal or welds to smoothness because the texture of the weld gives it life as well. I paint some pieces, but usually only to enhance the resemblance of the piece to the subject matter of which I seek to represent. I am not limited by scale or subject matter, only by availability of raw materials and the junk has to find me, I can’t just go buy it at the corner store although I shop for it, allot. I draw inspiration and motivation from anything in life, Love, Anger, Frustration, you name it, it has motivated and inspired me. I have works on display at my home gallery in Waldoboro , at many area businesses, Liberty tool museum in Liberty, Maine and Hulls cove in Bar Harbor, Maine, Have shown at the Penobscot Marine museum and have sold works to many people far and near. I have most of my work photographed and stored on disc but a few have escaped me before I got the chance. I have attempted to write a coffee table book but life’s changes make it hard to keep up with the editing. Hope you enjoy my work and thanks for caring to know more.
The Artist
Hope you had a good weekend, Nate. Do artists give themselves the weekend off? Been looking at your 'frosted' art album - great pictures - and your current profile picture is amazing.
Worms play the most important part in the ecosystem. They clean it up
and do the natural recycling. They eat and make soil fertile. The
pathways created by their movement help the soil breath and drink.
Worms help air and water to get in to the soil and this helps plants
grow because there is more of a chance that the plants root can get
more oxygen and water.
