Each member has a rich background in performance, specifically in the realm of contemporary a cappella, and come together to make a powerhouse sound combined with a dynamic, engaging performance. This 14-strong group is dedicated to its repertoire of rock, dirty pop and R&B hits all over Gotham...and beyond. The (non-politically affiliated) Red States were formed in September of 2007 as part of the Contemporary A cappella Society of America's League of semi-professional groups (a league mentioned in The New York Times).The Red States have received critical acclaim for their performances and recordings alike, garnering awards such as Favorite Contemporary A Cappella League Group in the 2010 A Cappella Community Awards and Best Contemporary A Cappella League Song of the Year (for "Just Dance") in the 2010 Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards.
