The Culture of Me had some kind words for Red Beard:
As a listener, one can actually feel the blisters in the fingers of all three members of Red Beard on their self-released EP, Steed. Each note instantly resonates, punctuated by pauses and distortion. This is the sound of a band on the way up. The EP, produced by David Obuchowski of Goes Cube (go figure about the heaviness of the thing, then) to a complete "t", is so full of thundering sounds, we couldn't make out most of the lyrics, however in the vein that these guys are creating their art, who really cares?
Our favorite of the lot (which only takes a good and painful 12 minutes to get through) is "Broke", a not-even three minute assault, but the best lyric on the disc is from "Negative Steed" and it properly entwines the ethos of Red Beard: "Hang me dead by the family tree / I'm gonna break your heart".
