Networking

  • Looking for traditional publisher for The Wisdom Walkers; ultimately would like to see the project translated into a motion picture.

  • Host Redbird's Children Of Many Colors Powwow, June 16, 17 and 18, 2006 Moorpark College, CA. Intertribal, non-contest, fundraiser for scholarship, elder housing project

  • Seeking to network with other non profit and public agencies in the creation of native elder housing project.

Interests

  • General

Creating a Native American elder housing project in the greater Los Angeles area, writing, photography, poetry, gourd dancing, kayaking, environmental preservation and habitat restoration, model horses, and showing and customizing model horses
  • Music

Always changing. Late 70's and early 80's rock, native music; learning to appreciate Louis Armstong and classical music.
  • Movies

I just saw The Green Mile and I cried my eyes out. Black Cloud, Dreamkeeper, Smoke Signals (had to watch it twice to really appreciate it) and many others that I can't think of right now. BTW, Dances With Wolves was a movie about a white man's experience meeting native people. If you understand that it was meant to be seen through the eyes of a non-Indian person meeting Indians for the first time, you can appreciate how well it was done.
  • Television

KCET, Public Broadcasting stations, Science Channel, National Geographic, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Law & Order, Medium, sometimes the SciFi Channel
  • Books

Non-fiction - native history, geology/geography, animals. Recently wrote fictional novel "The Wisdom Walkers" available .. at www.lulu.com/corinaroberts. The Wisdom Walkers follows two women horse traders 74,000 years ago and is based on the premise that not all native peoples migrated across the Bering Strait in recent history.
  • Heroes

Oren Lyons, John Trudell, ordinary people who overcome extraordinary circumstances, my mom, Harvest McCampbell, Esmaa Self, writers who don't quit, people who remember their traditions and keep them alive.

About me:

German/Russian/Scottish/Welsh/Cherokee/Osage and maybe German again. Shy in public. Prolific behind a PC keyboard. Learning to balance aggressive instincts with humility. I'm also extremely flattered that people like my pictures. Please do not use them for any purpose watsoever without permission. While I may have had permission to take an image, I do not have permission to use them for anything other than promoting Redbird, a non profit Native American and environmental awareness group. Thank you for your respect.

Who I'd like to meet:

People who are committed to walking their talk, and looking to see what they can contribute to a situation as opposed to what they can get out of it. Don't let that scare you off, unless it should. I'm here to network, particularly where Native American issues and events are concerned. I'm also a big fan of mustangs (as in wild horses), collecting and showing model horses, and things that are generally good for people and the planet. I'm trying to eat less red meat...no, not for my health, but because the beef industry doesn't want to share public lands with bison, wild horses, natives, or anyone else. I'm looking for a new career in environmental or non profit work, or to expand my modeling and/or real estate contacts. (Please no pyramids, distributor opportunities or .. surveys that I have to pay to access). If I had one wish for myself it would be to have my own home again. My one wish for everyone else would be that they get to experience contentment...when you don't need to change, or improve, or create, or destroy anything...when you don't have to be deliriously happy or frantic to create drama...when you can accept people for who they are, and accept yourself, period.
