With vocals that can soar, pierce or play, and intelligent lyrics that belie her youthful frame, singer-songwriter Reddi combines pop appeal with an edge. Her songwriting stems from a personal history of journals and poetry as well as everyday inspiration found in relationships, in her morning cup of coffee and on the subway to and from her Brooklyn apartment. The result is songs that are unapologetically universal and unique.
A Chicago native, Reddi grew up listening to an eclectic mix of music. Influence came from many directions - the classical music in her ballet classes, the Top 40 and MTV hits on TV and the radio, her parents' R&B and jazz, and the hard rock in her hangout sessions with the garage band boys next door. All shaping the sound and sensibility the singer/songwriter would one day call her own.
Being born only 4 pounds and 11 ounces with a shock of red hair was just the beginning for the girl whose naturally red locks would later earn her the name Reddi. Dancing and singing at the age of 5 and performing professionally at 7, she always found a way to express her perspective on life.
In the second half of 2005, Reddi teamed up with Neil Cabana (of Daisy Ricochet and Dog and King Publishing) to write and record a 5 song EP, bringing Reddi's infectious melodies and keen lyrics to Neil's rock/alt sensibilities.
In 2006, Reddi paired with Neil again to write and record a 6 song EP, aptly titled "Single". At the start of the project, the writing duo consciously chose to create without bounds, allowing each song to come into being without preconceived ideas or restrictions. Effortlessly moving between genres, Reddi instinctively brought the emotion, inflection and tone that each song deserved, proving herself to be an emerging artist that can bridge the gap between pop/rock/club/R&B and beyond - all while remaining true.
Next up, Reddi will continue working on various music projects, including another collaboration with Neil. The two have made plans to work together at the start of 2009 to write and record new material for upcoming release and placements.
Reddi received Honorable Mention for each of 7 songs submitted in the 14th Annual Billboard World Song Contest. She was also chosen as the 2006 AppleBeam Studios U.K. Songwriting Award winner and received Honourable Mention in the 2006 We Are Listening international songwriting contest.
Already an accomplished dancer and singer, Reddi has performed throughout the U.S. as well as in Europe, Australia and Brazil. She has also appeared in musicals (including Mamma Mia! and Rent) on Broadway, off-Broadway and in National Tours.
OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW...SHOVEL...CAUSE BRAND NEW COLD BrrrrrBLOODED BULLSHHHHUKAS IS SOON TO BE UPON US.....BELIEVE WISDOM THAT 1! A little Black girl (UNCLASSIFIED)
A stranger was seated next to a little black girl on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, "Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger." The little girl, who had just opened her coloring book, closed it slowly and said to the stranger, "What would you like to talk about?" "Oh, I don't know," said the stranger. "Since you are a black, do you think that So-called President Elect Barak Obama is qualified for the job?" and he smiles. "OK", she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff -grass -. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?" The stranger, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, "Hmmm, I have no idea." To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss President Barak Obama... when you don't know shit?"
