Re|Define [rE-di-’fIn]: to reexamine or reevaluate, especially with a view to change. to transform.
The name says it all. From the start of this band, there have always been two goals in mind: for the guys to be true to themselves and their music, and to avoid any cookie-cutter trends that pervade the music industry.
Shortly after the formation of the band, a demo was released and the guys hit the ground running, gigging all over North Texas. They quickly became a favorite in Denton, a town responsible for their initial start populated by college students from the University of North Texas. Dallas also became a good friend to the band, as they expanded their audience to such prestigious local venues as FireWater and the Curtain Club.
As the band continued to play more shows, they decided the need for a studio EP had come, so they teamed up with renowned producer Alex Gerst (Slow Roosevelt, the Feds) and recorded their debut CD. The disc came out with critical acclaim, earning a handful of well received reviews, and generated even more buzz around the area.
After the release of the album, the band would hone in on their focused, yet progressive style of music. Upping the bar and going through a lineup change, founding members Mike Kelp and Chris Apaliski would be joined by drummer Matt Loria and bassist Mike Diquinzio in their quest for musical domination.
Redefine is currently gearing up for recording their second studio album, which promises not to let down. Come see the band or check out one of their high energy live shows. You will be glad you did.
Check back for updates often. This year is the year of Redefine.
