Hungry March Band marches to the Urban Meadow
In the Spring of 2008 the Cabrini GREEN Urban Meadow, a church back in the day and for years a rubble heap, opened up as a new NYC Park/Community Garden. Last year we had our first jazz show in the Urban Meadow, which was a part of the VISION-FEST bringing jazz to many of the city's community gardens. The Meadow participated with three bands participating.
The new Cabrini GREEN Urban Meadow will be having free jazz shows every Sunday in June, which we’re calling “Jazz in June”. All the jazz shows will be free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to bring their friends and have a picnic in the Meadow. Parents are encouraged to bring their children!
*The Cabrini Green Urban Meadow is a new green space along the future route of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. It is the result of a successful collaboration between the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and the Brooklyn Borough President, in conjunction with the design teams from XS Space and Balmori Associates. It is now under the volunteers. Free yoga classes will be offered in the Spring and Summer and the Urban Meadow will be opening soon, open everyday from the Spring until late Fall.
