"I don't play a lot of fancy guitar. I don't want to play it. The kind of guitar I want to play is mean, mean licks." -John Lee Hooker
I'm a guitar player from Lansing, Michigan. I've been fortunate enough to see a good bit of the world while playing with some of my musical heroes. I was first exposed to the blues via my Mother's record collection; Blind Lemon Jefferson, John Lee Hooker, Missisippi John Hurt, Leadbelly, Snooks Eaglin, and more. My Mom attended the 1963 Newport Folk Folk Festival, and she also has great stories of seeing Sonny Terry, John Lee Hooker and others perform in New York City in the early 1960s.
Currently I am playing with the Boa Constrictors, fronted by a brilliant harmonica player and bluesman from Grand Rapids, Tomas Esparza. Other fine musicians I have played with: Alberta Adams, James Harman, Eddie Kirkland, Jeremy Spencer, Harmonica Shah, Uncle Jesse White, Garfield Angove, Count Bracey, Joey "Kingfish", Eddie C. Campbell, Duke Dawson, CeeCee Collins, Doug Deming, and R.J. Spangler.
I'm interested in meeting anyone who can help me learn about the blues. I'm also interested in cooking, playing the game of bridge, working on cars and motorcycles, and collecting antique glassware and pottery.
