HISTORY:
Red Ink Theatre Company’s first production “4 Days Late” was an original sketch comedy revue that stood fearless in the face of absent reviewers. Its awesome run at The Spot, in Uptown, was concluded with a highly successful, sold-out performance at Chicago Sketchfest, 2008. Their second production, "iAlone", a solo-performance showcase, was incredibly well received, and recommended in the Chicago Reader, during it's three week run at The Spot in April and May of 2008. 4 Days Late recently wrote/performed their latest show "America For Dummies!" at the Apollo Theatre Chicago. You can catch them in their next sketch revue, "ObamaNation" Friday Nights @ 10:30 April 3rd through May 22nd @ The Apollo Theatre Chicago!!!
Red Ink Theatre Company was founded by Artistic Director, Erin Lane, and Managing Director, Brian Bush. Erin Lane graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. She also graduated from the Second City Conservatory here in Chicago as well as from IO and Annoyance Productions. She has been performing professionally for over ten years, five of them here in Chicago, and has been directing for two. Brian Bush moved to Chicago after graduating from the University of Idaho three years ago. He has been performing professionally for over seven years.
OUR PROCESS:
Red Ink creates its own material through ensemble collaboration. Our ensemble of improvising, writing, and performing badasses gather in a room and brainstorm on a theme. Once we all agree upon a theme, we begin to improvise and write sketches, solo-performance pieces, and (coming in 2009) one-acts based on that theme. Most of our pieces are auto-biographical, and based heavily in truth. Every member of the ensemble is credited as a writer, for the pieces are written, improvised and performed by the ensemble.
You wanna play with us… you know you do.
