I listen to mostly local bands. Some of my faves are The Detholz, Bobby Conn, Cheer Accident, and anything from 4boxs. More mainstream music that I like - The White Stripes, They Might Be Giants, Gorillaz, Robert Palmer (his older stuff) The Beatles (duh), early Beastie Boys, Elvis Costello, Le Tigre, Ani Difranco, Fanny Pack (gotta have some bubble gum in there) Tom Waits, I love bluegrass- The Hackensaw Boys can outplay any band, and yes, in high school I was a Duran fan. I still listen to a lot of 80's music...The Police, Dead Milkmen, The Cure, etc. I am pretty much all over the place, and will give anything a chance.

Movies
Ooohhh...sooo many.....Let's start from the early years- The Goonies, all Monty Python movies, Jaws, The Black Stallion (hey, I said the early years! Watch it though, it's a really beautiful film), Popeye, all the Sinbad movies (seen at the drive-inn w/ the folks), the original Star Wars movies (episode 4,5,6), Night of The Living Dead (scared the piss outta me),
A little later- Ferris Buehler's Day Off and most J Hughes films (duh, I'm a girl), Clockwork Orange (kinda twists you to see that as a teen girl!), started getting into Hitchcock movies as a teen, still love em, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, The Quick and the Dead-and pretty much any Sam Raimi movie, even today, the original Planet of the Apes, Alien...
Even later - Many Samurai movies, Kill Bill, Fargo, any Miyazaki movie, Lord of the Rings, Babe, Milo & Otis, The March of the Penguins, The Royal Tenenbaums & a lot of Wes Anderson films, Donnie Darko, lot's of Sci-Fi...
I'll have to come back to this!
OK, Add to this Brokeback Mountain, and KONG! I just saw both and loved them!
Television
Television is evil...but at the same time I love Kung Fu, Lost, Samurai Champloo, Samurai Jack, any show about animals, BattleStar Galactica (new and old!) Yes, I am 12 year old boy trapped in a 36 year old womans body! The Prisoner, The Young Ones, Monty Pythons Flying Circus....

Books
Are you kidding me? Reading has been my hobby since I was a wee lass. I have read a lot, and I can't even begin to list them all here. I'm one of those people who can't comprehend that others don't like to read. It's just really strange to me. Let's see, what are the latest things I have read - 'Ego & Hubris' by Harvey Pekar, 'The Omnivore's Dilemma' by Michael Pollan, and a collection of Wolverine comics. I have been in to graphic novels a lot recently. I will keep this up to date as I finish anything good...oh yeah, I am a huge sci-fi/fantasy fan. Yes, I read all the Harry Potter books...
Heroes
My Dad. He died when I was 12, and was a really cool guy. That's all I want to say about that right now.
About me: I was born in Wisconsin and am a proud cheese head, but now am a flat-lander living about 2 miles from Chicago. I have a brother named Wolfegang. I am a first generation Scotch-Irish gal. I lived in a cabin on a mountain without running water or electricity for a year when I was in second grade, ran around with few clothes, barefoot, had a pony, learned to hate rattle snakes, scorpions, spiders, out houses, learned to love the dulcimer, the outdoors, and Grama's southern cooking. Came back up north, Dad died when I was 12, lived with mom and evil step-dad. HORROR SHOW! Got kicked out when I was 17, finished high school anyway and was valedictorian & prom queen (much to the dismay of evil step-dad) went to college, had so much fun I had to stay for 6 years and get 2 degrees, got engaged to a lunatic, got dumped, (thank god one of us had sense!) made art all the time, taught middle school, met my hubby & got married, bought a house, got a dog, and still make art all the time, teach middle school, and fight conservative assholes whenever possible... Oh yeah, and I'm not into meeting anyone for "extra-curricular activities"... I'm very happily married, and am just here to meet other artists/online friends and network...
I also just became a MOM - HOLY FUCKING COW!!!! I never imagined this, even though we planned it. You do things, like getting pregnant, and logically you know you are going to become a parent, but NOTHING prepares you for it. It is the most amazing and insane thing I have ever done. I am so in love with this amazing little human we created, I can't believe it. He rocks! Henry, ( or Hank, or Huggy) is my little man!
Who I'd like to meet: Keith Haring if he was still alive...Margaret Kilgallen if she was still alive...Frida Kahlo if she was still alive, Tim Biskup, Lori Earley, Gary Baseman, Thomas Kinkade - so I could slap him as hard as possible, and then stuff my paintbrush up his ass....
I have met Ed Paschke and Tony Fitzpatrick in the past, and this summer we are going to San Francisco where I plan on stalking Barry McGee.
OK, and here's someone weird that I met - do you remember the tv show Hee Haw? I was kind of forced to watch it when I was at my grand-parent's house. There was this man that was on the show by the name of "Grandpa Jones" (Louis Marshall). I met...his wife. Yeah, kinda bizarre, I know. But I remember back then I was really impressed that I met the spouse of someone famous. I was about 5 years old. Mrs. Grandpa Jones ran a little gift shop and she gave me a pet rock. Yeah, my brush with fame. OH! And I also met David Sedaris, who is one my most favorite authors ever.
I would also like to meet Hugh Jackman. I would like to do illegal things with his body.
YaY! I am going to be the first one to comment on Henry's arrival. A freakin' fourth of July baby...whoda thunkit? Welcome to the big blue marble, Hank! Now where are the pictures!!!????
I am down with Melanie. Hippie tendencies be damned...better living through chemistry (and co-axial cable)! Speaking of which, I left a comment for you on Mel's page...it's like a treasure hunt!
Ok, you need to change your song on your profile. Every time I hear it, it gets stuck in my head for days and days. I find myself singing it in my sleep, in the shower, in the car. MAKE IT STOP!
did you hear this one?
