Throughout the last 2.5 years, Indianapolis, Indiana-based Red Light Driver has been making sizable waves with their atmospheric blend of pop. In February of 2009 we will finally see their debut full-length come into physical reality with the help of MFT Records. The new album, titled "...and Now We Can Be Ourselves" jumps between 70s post-punk (Joy Division, Wire), 80s alternative (The Church, Echo and the Bunneymen), and 90s Britpop (Stone Roses, Ride) - culminating in a unique blend of ethereal pop that is informed by their influences, yet somehow remarkably new.
In early 2008, the band began writing and recording music for "...and Now We Can Be Ourselves." Joining with producer Paul "Mahan Kalpa" Mahern, of Zero Boys fame, the band began moving in a decidedly different direction - conveying the spirit of early The Jesus & Mary Chain or the influential pschadelia of Spacemen 3. Droned out Telecasters and bright Rickenbackers collide into big drums and danceable bass lines - all mingling to form a cohesive, moody form of indie-pop. The uncommonly moving ballads of "...and Now We Can Be Ourselves" put the avant-garde back in pop music.
you rule. we can't thank you enough for letting us use your amp. it turned what might have been one of the worst times we've had into one of the best times we've had.
The 20Belows is a melodic punk rock band from Copenhagen, Denmark. With inspiration from bands such as the The Ramones, Screeching Weasel and The Queers, you would maybe fear that just another pop punk band had been born but that couldn’t be further from the truth....
Also...the debut appearance of The Typos and from Chicago, The Hypnic Jerks round out the night.
Been playing the 2 cd's to death since buying them on ITUNES. I will try and make it to a show again sometime soon as well and have played LIGHTS for many friends and all have liked it! Happy to have a new band to listen to and follow.
