Influences
Chuck Berry would be the original influence thanks to my dad playing the London Berry Sessions for me when I was 3. Beyond that, New York stuff from The Dolls and Ramones Television, Richard Hell and the Voidoids to Talking Heads and Suicide/50's stuff like Jerry Lee, Buddy Holley, Bo Diddley, Elvis/60's stuff like Hendrix, Cream, Buffalo Springfield/other 70's stuff like early clapton, derrick and the dominoes, neil young, stones, Joy Division/80's stuff, mostly Madchester and britpop, plus INXS, The Outfield, The Smiths, Violent Femmes, Dead Milkmen, Material Issue, Pixies/Not TOO much modern stuff, but definetly Air, Primal Scream, Blow UP in Japanese, Flaming Lips, Spiritualized. My influences are many and widespread throughout eras, genres, and styles. I believe this helps keep me from wearing a single influence on my sleeve. It makes it a little more challenging for the listener to find out who i ripped off...er um who my influences were on a particluar song. ;)

we have been compared to: the pixies, the b-52's, the talking heads, joy division, nirvana, and even one time the butthole surfers meets the archies.
***most of the recent shows have been me solo with either a piano or acoustic guitar. no one has compared me to anyone. id say i sound mostly like me.
Formed in August of 2002 in a damp crawl space in the Clifton neighborhood of Louisville Kentucky by Andy Sturdevant, Becca Lindsay and Dan Marshall. With the recent departure of Becca and Karri Dan remains as the final original member and currently the only member of Red Nails.
**Red Nails are veterans of All Tomorrows Parties 2005 curated by Slint who they played with at one of the Metro gigs on the US leg of their 2005 US tour. Red Nails released a self titled EP in February of 2005 and have one album in the vault (drop us a message for a cdr) and are currently recording multiple versions of multiple old and new songs for various possible releases as well as for this myspace page. They have also appeared on two compilations one released with the literary magazine Churches, Banks and Bars and one benefit compilation for WXBH radio. Contact us if you need tracks for compilation and/or benefit albums. And hey promoterish people, NO we will NOT pay for the privilege of being on your release.**
So here we are almost 5 years after the original formation of the band and now being basically a solo outfit its begun taking different turns. I will continue to record music some of which will be released but most of which will be available upon request in no frills cdr format.**
My basic philosophy remains the pursuit of the perfect song. Its about the creation and development not only of my material but of me as a musician and songwriter.**
