Red Rival has done a lot since they first reared their heads in 06. They’ve played relentlessly, and developed an ever-evolving bunch of songs that cover garage, post-punk weirdness and abstract psychedelia.
In December 2006, they won Triple J Unearthed. They played the dusk slot at the Falls Festival and were the only Tasmanian rock band invited to play the inaugural Southern Roots Festival alongside Gomez, Wolfmother and the Pixies.
You can catch them on hip stations like Edge (Hobart), PBS (Melbourne), Triple J and WLUW (Chicago).
In early 2008, following on from a successful tour taking in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, they were nominated for a number of Amplified Awards (Tasmania's major music awards) and were voted Tasmania's best up and coming band. Their website - www.redrivaltheband.com - also won the award for best web presence.
Most of 2009 has had Red Rival locked down in the studio recording their full-length debut album, the follow up to their blistering 2007 E.P Up All Night. The track ">

Has the music revolution begun you ask? no is the answer because like any revolution its always beginning and always ending. so yes, it is doing something, not quite sure exactly what but lets just say the revolution is revolving and your all apart of it.
Hey guys, Just thought we'd drop you a line to say cheers for your friendliness (and drinks!) on Saturday night in Lonny. Made the experience a whole lot more fun for us. Also, just letting you know that James is OK, he was at school today. His blood test and brain scan came back clear, he now just needs to see a neurologist. Finally... A few of our friends went along on Sunday night, said you played really well and they really liked what you're doing. We're all keen for the album now! Cheers, Manchester Mourning

We'd love you to come along to the Longley Tavern this saturday night to see Firebird (from melbourne, with members from Nekromantix and Brian Setzer orch) and ourselves. They've got an awesome outdoor stage, wood fires for keeping warm, great atmosphere and FREE entry. Only fifteen minutes out of town up through South Hobart, will be well worth the trip!
Sometimes the world looks perfect, Nothing to rearrange. Sometimes you get a feeling Like you need some kind of change. No matter what the odds are this time, Nothing's going to stand in my way. This flame in my heart, And a long lost friend Gives every dark street a light at the end. Standing tall, on the wings of my dream. Rise and fall, on the wings of my dream. The rain and thunder v The wind and haze I'm bound for better days. It's my life and my dream, Nothing's going to stop me now.
